Stranger Things on Netflix - anyone watch it?
 

In case you haven't heard about it yet, "Stranger Things" is a real treat.

It is a fantastic series. I think of it as almost a mix between goonies and x files with music from Tron. I never binge watch tv because I don't have time but I found myself watching 2-3 episodes at a time over 3 days.

Can't wait til season 2.

I don't watch series.

Just finished it last night, really enjoyed it. I like how they left it hanging too.

Binge watching Mad Men, really want to see Draper keel over because of the booze. A few others seem to be alcoholics. My favourite is Peggy.

Last night I saw an Indian movie (bollywood) [see: Newly arrived].

=>Airlift; A dramatized movie about the escape journey from Kuwait of the Indian nationals to biggest air evacuation ever at the airport in Amman -- when Saddam invaded Kuwait. Excellent movie in part English and the rest subtitled.

It's lame...but in the best way possible. Kind of a slow burner but by episode 4 I was emotionally in and watched the rest all the way through. It was as if 80's Spielberg and Stephen King fucked and had a baby.

its officially the most-watched series online, taking over the spot from game of thrones.

so yeah, people are watching.

I really liked it, especially the endless 80's pop-culture references. I avoided reading anything at all about the show but after a while I started to notice Lots and lots of nods to

- Steven King
- ET
- Poltergeist
- Stand by Me / "The Body", soooo obvious!
- Twilight Zone
- The Thing
- John Carpenter (1 that I saw, but repeated a few times)
- The Shining (1)
- Alien (I saw at least 2)

I'm sure there are more but I'll have to watch the series again.

It's on my list to watch. Have some friends that said it was fantastic. I may zone out this weekend and burn through it if I get some time.

Seems geared to 100-110 IQ. Don't mean to sound arrogant but that is what I'm getting. Also, we had working light in the 80s.

I picked up on that too. Wish they would pull back on the popular songs in every episode though, a bit obvious & seems crass.

Its kool, the music is nice.

Okay I just finished watching the whole season today and I must say I'm very impressed it was awesome! Did anyone notice the reference to the movie Pecker on the last episode at about 50 minutes in when he's taking the pictures of everything? I cannot wait until next season awesome!

Yep.. Reminds me of Steven Soderbergh / The Knick.

I have no idea what Stranger Things is about, but a lot of people seem to be talking about it.

Stranger Things is so much better than Preacher it's mind boggling. By all means watch ST. It's excellent.

Every episode I kept saying "Que the Tron music!"
