Paypal Holding $$ Hostage - Anyone Else?

WTF, today I get notice from paypal that a previously requested transfer of a K or so be sent to my corp bank account is 'cancelled'....

they require a photo ID, bank statement, cc statement, and phone/utility statement all sent to them on this account, and until then I cannot move money, close account, etc....

WTF??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I can send them a photo ID (or articles of inc if they want), bank and cc statement no problem, but the phone I use is a personal line, and utility is handled by the owner of the building, not me, so NO access to that....

anyone else have these issues with paypal before and how was it best resolved?

is it lawyer time over a pittiful few K? or will these Nazi's release my cash after sending them a sperm sample?

I'm waiting for the day the US financial institutions require tatoo's on my lip or ass....

bastards....

stanton 03-31-2003 10:24 PM

same shit here bro, need to take of my money
and they fucking freeze it, need to send them same shit

fucking bastards

protect my money????? uhm, not likely.....

more like another US financial institution that has ZERO respect for privacy...

this account is for a corp entity.... I am merely a marketing director for it....

we rent space in an office, we do not pay utilities, we use our own phone lines billed to another location

I understand needing some ID to verfiy, maybe even a bank statement proving I'm a signatory on it....I have NO problem with that....

but requiring ALLLLLLL that documentation is fucking overboard...

What REALLY PISSED ME OFF....

was that a simple heads up of this requirements from the beginning would have seemed appropriate....

...so they only want to protect me if I'm getting ripped off for over 1k? dude I'm DEPOSITING 1k to a company I work for.....not drawing funds from it...how is that 'protecting' ??????

My personal bank(s) have NEVER required all that shit from me....

ztik 03-31-2003 10:36 PM

Call your bank and see if they can reverse the transaction. I put 15 or so k into my paypal and they tried to lock onto it. but my bank some how reversed it for me.

Paypal is not a financial institution.
Your bank doesn't need all that because they can verify that your ID matches your face. And that your signature matches the one you used when you opened your accounts.

Paypal has had a large amount of fraud take place in the past. You've seen the scam emails. Dozens, if not hundreds, replied to those emails, handing over their passwords to fraudsters. They take over your account, load it with funds from a stolen credit card and then launder it.

If you were on the receiving end of the scam, you'd be bitching about how Paypal isn't secure enough. You're the scourge of customer service employees everywhere.

You bitch when your money is protected and you bitch when it isn't protected enough.

I already did. I'll quote and bold face the pertinent information.

If someone took over your account, loaded it with $1000 and sent it off elsewhere, and then Paypal came knocking on your door for fraud, what would you say?

thanks for the info, that would suck and I guess if that shit is rampant then more power to them...

just seems odd they never required this shit from the beginning...

"oh by the way, while we freeze your money, could you send us all this info..."

why not request that when setting up an account???

I'd reply...

call 213 XXX-XXXX and speak to so and so, the legal representatives for 'my pussy hurts, Inc." and 'proove it'

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if a company wants a sperm sample from me, to stick their finger up my ass, etc... Just let me know about it from the beginning, do not spring it on me at the last minute, I like to be warmed up before a forceable ass probe....
