how do I keep track of bookmarkers?
hey folks... anybody here know how I can keep track of how many people bookmark my site? Is it a script that counts or how can this be done?
I really need to figure this out, if it is possible!! thanks! |
anyone?

Not possible. Bookmarking is client-side, and last I checked, browsers don't exactly fire an event on bookmarking.

This might help:
If you have a script in place that checks refs, you should know how much traffic you have without a ref. Since approximately 10% of browsers do not send ref info, you take 10% of your total traffic and subtract that from your noref traffic. What's left should be a very rough estimate of your bookmarkers. |
Dont know if its what you are looking for but you can tell a little by your Favicon.ico
If you havn't made one then it should be listed under files not found in your stats everytime someone bookmarks. or if you did make one then maybe you could keep stats on how many times the ico is requested. |
using cookies can tell you how often people come back to your site, it doesn't mean they bookmarked it, but whats the difference as long as they return
