Saw this movie at the cinema the other night.

It's an extraordinary film that should have won "Best Picture" at the Oscars but we all know the Academy Awards is a bit of a farce.

It's the holocaust film that Schindlers List could have been, but wasn't.

Worth 100 crappy Hollywood movies. No Question.

I have seen Sch. List about 4 times now. I watched it 3 times, and then I made my kids see it with me once. They were probably too young at the time, 11-9-8, but I felt they needed to you know.

What can I say, Spielberg is one of the best hollywood has ever seen.

I thought it was an amazing film. Rather than saying it was better than Schindlers List I think of it as a companion to it. It is told from the perspective of the family member left behind whlist his family went to the camps. We don't often hear the story told from that side and it was stunningly done. There is no way on this planet that Chicago was a better film.

Joe..forgetting any of the Polanski personal drama..was the director award not deserved? Also, the art direction was over looked at the awards. Even the usage of greys was wonderful.

It was a extraordinary film in all respects.

Spielberg's film was too Hollywood for me. I enjoyed it but The Pianist is a far superior film.

The Acadamy Awards lost all credibility when "Titanic" won Best Picture.

Amen! When they showed it on Christmast day on the BBC a couple years ago the ratings showed that most people only tuned in to show the bit where jack dies. Sounds about right.

The Pianist didn't win Best Picture.

I think they just didn't give it to the Piano because they just gave one to Life Is Beautiful (an even better movie IMHO) a year or two ago. That would be holocaust overkill.
