I'm scared.

I can't sleep, (haven't slept well in days), I cry at the least things, (most recently while listening to "Little Wing"), I feel alone and vulnerable, and dammit, I miss Marty and Guppy. (see sig)

For those of you who have family actively fighting this war, are you feeling the same way? Are you scared, afraid that you'll get the dreaded phone call?

My work has gone to shit, my schoolwork and classwork has gone to shit, and I need either a nervous breakdown or to watch Marty's band playing "Little Wing" onstage again.

I have my best friend that left a day before war started. Everyday I think of him. With all the stories I see in CNN, makes me worry alot about the troops.

I'm sitting here looking at all the photos on yahoo, knowing which carrier my guys are on. (separate ones, actually) It's frightening.

My husband just got an email form one of his friends over there, and in a way that's really comforting, and in a way, I'm jealous and angry as hell.

I'm going slowly insane. Or perhaps I'm going swiftly, either way it's madness and I'm hurtling straight for it.

Thank you for allowing me the rant thread, i appreciate it.

Don't be scared. Be proud.

I'm both. I'm very proud of our men and women, very proud of Guppy and Marty, but I'm so terrified at the same time. Terrified that I may never see them or hear their voices, or dance with Guppy or jam with Marty....sorry.

Little wing rocks, both the hendricks and stevie ray vaughn version

Indeed. The Stranded Dogs version is great too!

Tala 03-29-2003 11:13 PM

Another song that I'm having trouble with is Bon Jovi "Dead or Alive". And Queensryche "Silent Lucidity". Both are on the Stranded Dogs' playlist.

(Stranded Dogs: Marty's band, sorry)

That would be awesome, with a smal problem thrown in: Martya nd Guppy are form different squadrons, but both homebased at NAS Whidbey Island, WA.

I live in BackassedCountry TN

I'm the only one that I am aware of, (with possible exception of husband), who even knows where Whidbey Island is, much less cares about anyone stationed there. :(

Very sorry to hear that Tala :(

Personally I know it's often much easier on those that go off to do that shit....

....I KNOW it was much harder on my mother, she lost her mind while I was gone during the 1st Desert thang... Sleepless nights, etc.... The shitty part was not being able to tell her where I was, or where I was going to be....I was in a few different places while over there, some politically ok to say, some not so much...

Only comfort I can offer is to know that our military is the best on the planet, know that they train ALL the time for this and will do Everything possible to minimize the risk & loss of life....for both sides even...

Yeah it is not very easy my Brother and 2 friends are out there. My brother is a helicopter pilot so everytime I hear of a helicopter crashing my heart stops. His wife just tries to stay as busy as possible. Just try to stay busy and have friends and family support you. Hang in there they will be ok. =)

Sure. Amp made it and offered it a while back, but you're welcome to use it.

benthompson 03-30-2003 10:37 AM

Jones 03-30-2003 10:38 AM

Im pretty much only a lurker in here... So this will be my first post here... Sorry to hear that you're feeling like that! It is understandable... You might wanna consult a psychologist so you can have a good talk about it! Think it will be good for you... Hope the best for you and your fighting friends, family and so on..:)

LadyMischief 03-30-2003 10:42 AM

I'm proud to say I have friends who are serving overseas (Afganistan and Iraq) and my continued care and support goes out to them and everyone putting their lives on the line for freedom. Best of luck and my best regards to everyone who has loved ones/friends in Iraq or Afganistan.

Tala 03-30-2003 11:01 AM

Thanks for the understanding everyone, I appreciate it. It helps to realize that I'm not the only one in this predicament.

Is there any way to not focus on family overseas? I'm working my ass off, and dammit, I should be exhausted by the end of the day, but I'm wide-the-fuck-awake.

Ideas??

Thanks.

*sigh* I've gotten to the point where I'm resentful of having to have sex with the spouse now. It's nothing more than a sleep-aid that isn't working.

I'm going insane. Quickly.
