Sure make the fuckin Asian a cocksucker.

This PC world is fucking ridiculous even in the future!

SHIT

2MuchMark 07-07-2016 05:38 PM

I don't care if Sulu is gay or not, but man Star Trek seems to be heading into the toilet. The last movie was passable at best, but the new trailers makes Trek look like total shit. Fucking Rhianna sings a "Theme Song" for Star Trek? What the hell man. And besides the new Trek looks like all action and no story. I like to think when I watch Trek.

Plot twist: George Takei is unhappy about the decision. He thinks they should've introduced a new character, instead of ret-conning an already established straight character. I agree with him; instead of pandering why not just introduce a few new homosexual characters?

Yes i find that annoying in comic world, when they doing stuff like making thor woman or spiderman black. If you want such heroes then make new heroes, as this way it look like a repaint.

I agree!

Only reason I'm cool with this one is because the original actor is Gay, and was obviously Gay when playing the original character.

Retroactively making a character black, when you grew up with them white, is a big fuck you to all fans.

seems like a token gay to be PC as possible

Star Trek was never PC.

The first black / white kiss on TV , the list goes on, you don't know the history of the show and that's ok. Here's a short primer on how much they accomplished, and why they have such a following to this day.

what do you expect from an industry that did a all female cast remake of Ghostbusters. They should have introduced a gay klingon character

It's a reboot, not a remake.

Bill Murray wanted double normal pay to star in the 3rd Ghostbusters so he does a cameo, as do all previous main characters played by Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd & Sigourney Weaver.

Totally new characters, story line, etc.

Bill Murray is a nutritious asshole to work with and has sabotaged movies post production when he wasn't treated like a king.

CaptainHowdy 07-08-2016 02:23 PM

Those ain't news ...

True, but in reality Spock would have been the cocksucker because it's logical on long space flights with the ratio of women to men disproportionate.

I think they did this just to benefit from how enormously popular George Takei is on social media.

I also think it is kind of homophobic to retroactively claim that a straight character played by a gay man who was a perfectly good actor must be gay.

Also, the last Star Trek movie was so unbelievably bad that there is no way I'd personally watch this one. They spent the whole movie setting up that what they were doing was not canon. And then that was it. No plot. No story. No nothing, except them saying that what they were doing wasn't the original. I thought Pines and Quinto did the best that could be done with the terrible material, but it was still terrible.

Rochard 07-08-2016 03:28 PM

This isn't new - it's a few weeks old - and it's not really news... Wasn't this expected?

2MuchMark 07-08-2016 04:38 PM

I don't care if one or all of the characters are gay or not. What I hate is the apparent destruction of Star Trek overall. The first reboot had lots of SCIENCE in it (Black Holes, Black Hole generator, Time Travel). The second one had Khan and tried to copy the cold war submarine'esq battle of Wrath, but didn't really pull it off.

The 3rd one looks, and now sounds, like Fast and the Furious. (Get the fuck out of my Universe, Rhianna!).

Star Trek: The Motion Picture, original Wrath of Khan, and First Contact are all my favourite trek movies, with "The Final Frontier" being my least favourite. I wonder if Beyond will become my new least favourite?

we need to fit in every group that society creates, funny how it changes everything for the worse

marlboroack 07-08-2016 11:22 PM

wtf is star trek

pimpmaster9000 07-09-2016 03:14 AM

I will watch any sci-fi space movie no matter how bad it is...I enjoyed the star trek voyager series even tho it sucked absolute balls...I enjoyed gravity even tho ball suckage was to the max...if it is in space, I will watch and not complain...

femdomdestiny 07-09-2016 04:23 AM

Rihanna singing, gay driving Enterprise, too much violence and action. Definitely move in the wrong direction. I am hoping new series will be better.
