Black Media Federation Assists in Firing of White Newscaster, Fired for Being White
 

Accused of having a "white savior" complex award winning newscaster Wendy Bell was fired for being white and is now suing on those grounds.

?It will be some time before I forget the smile that beamed across that young worker?s face ? or the look in his eyes as we caught each other?s gaze,? Bell wrote. ?I wonder how long it had been since someone told him he was special.?

Almost immediately, critics called her words racist and accused Bell of having a white savior complex. Two days later, the anchor removed the Facebook post and apologized. Seven days after that, on the same day as a meeting between the station management and the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation, the TV station fired her.

?WTAE has ended its relationship with anchor Wendy Bell,? read a statement from the station?s parent company, Hearst Television, reported the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

They assumed she was black based on her application and name. As she got whiter next to her black co-host they started treating her differently then pointed the false finger of racism at her to get her fired.

It was not racist by any stretch. If non white person had written it it would not have even be noticed. Thus - fired for being white.

specifically my point was her employers found the fb post racist, i didn't think i needed to be so specific. so even more specifically- it's well within their boundaries to make a judgement call on this. her job is to deliver the news, not her biased opinion of the news.

It was "racially insensitive" they say. I dated two TV reporters / newscasters, one lived with me for 2 1/2 years. The one I was with the longest worked at Fox and was fired over a Facebook feud that went public, he does porn now :1orglaugh
