T1 Connection or higher
A Few decent servers(at least a 1.4mhz with pretty nice sized hard drives)
Find a good OS for your servers
Keep them updated security wise
good customer service

I guess you can get a set static ips from Road Runner and gradually grow as your business does. A friend of mine is doing it and his connection is higher than a T1. I'm not a techy. So forgive me. Worthing looking into though.

uh.. the days the average broadband user has a T1 connection or higher? If you want to start a hosting company you better think a bit bigger than 1.5mbits :)
