I watched the movie/documentary on Nostradamus a few years back. It said he predicted that there would be a great war in the Middle East during the late 90's and into the new millenium, he predicted it would involve the muslim world and a single muslim leader..... and he also predicted that that muslim tyrant leader would somehow unite with Europe in some way to threaten the world.

His prediction for the absolute end of humanity was much later though, but I forget the exact year..... I seem to recall a number much later during this century though, like 2396 or something.

Yeah, right. The only peole they get along with worse than us is each other.

nostrodomus has some interesting stuff, i haven't done near enough research. but it seems from what i do know that his prophecies are often spread with incorrect interpretation, or even skewn so they "fit". interesting stuff.

That's largely true. I used to be very into Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce. Of the two, Edgar Cayce is the more fascinating and more impressive because of the time frames he worked in. He lived a normal length life not far from our own time and his predictions and visions mostly covered immediate time frames and events that happened in his own time.

Nostradamus is just SO very vague. The excuse most often given is that he was hiding things from the authorities of his time, but it is a pretty weak excuse. For everything that someone points out he got "right" there are hundreds and hundreds of things he predicted that have never come to pass. Also, modern interpretations do tend to "spin" his predictions to fit events or situations that are currently happening. Anything major happens, someone digs through N's prophecies and finds something that sort of fits, spins it a bit and... BAM! Nostradamus got another one "right".

There is no longer a Persia.

Persia encompassed an area much more vast then the area occupied by Iranians today.

I read somewhere that most Iranians call them selves "Persian" today because of the negative conotations established during the Iran Hostage crisis in the 70's...but using "Persian" seems to be a bit of a misnomer since society generally don't describe other ethnicities by their former status....e.g. Italians as "Romans", Irish as "celtic" or Germanic people as "Prussians".

Thing is, many people who read N's stuff assume that every point and prediction are in order of occurence. They aren't. Most of his prophecies are jumbled, some occuring years or decades previous to the one before it. One premonition might have to do with an event in 1980-85, while the next "quatrain" might refer to events in the 1990's, or back in the 50's etc.


And although highly studied and analyzed and disected......... most are quite open to interpretation. I find it very interesting nonetheless.

This is bullshit..... none of you can even spell his name let alone purport to be able to interpret his prophecies.

Its Nostradamus and the most compelling interpretations of his prophecies tell us a number of things, to mention a few:

(1) The eclipse of August 1999 was a bad omen signalling the coming of a horrible and devastating world war.

(2) That post September 11, the west would be seen to grow in power, fame, praise and glory but that this would change suddenly in a succession of disasters for the west.

(3) That the war in Iraq would be "calamitous" and that upon Saddam's death, there would be a "laying waste we all dread". Some interpretations call it a "horrible undoing of man and beast".

(4) That post 2006, the whole of europe would be invaded and that subsequently many governments in the world would be overthrown and fanatics would take power.

(5) Major plagues, flooding on a world scale and a world famine, the likes of which has never been seen before brought on by a combination of the ecology and war.... troubling the west as much as the east.

(6) The rise of the antichrist who would be the true satan..... slaughtering millions of people without warning: "he would be the enemy of all men living".

(7) The coming of Ogmios, a celtic hero who would fight back against the antichrists forces.

An tons more.... course we can only interpret and we may all be wrong but his prophecy of "the rise of the muslim nations" is undeniable. He dedicates like tons and tons of prophecies to this subject alone.

I love it...a book floats around claiming all kinds of prophecies about the end of the world, the rise of an evil man etc...etc...and people on this board call those who follow that book weak, superstitious and the authors of the books within the books delusional, psychotic, mentally ill and I of course am talking about the bible.

But people come in here and talk about Nostradamus' predictions and yeah those are cool...he wasn't a nut job...he wasn't psychotic like Paul was...those who read those predictions and believe them are not weak minded superstitious fools...only edumacated pornographers.

The world will destroy itself in due time, whether or not that is today, or tomorrow, whether that is by nature's hand or by man's and not much we can do about that but enjoy what we got while we've got it. :thumbsup
