If you have trouble sleeping, just pop in "Spectre"

Oh my lord. What happened to good old James Bond? 007 was the Gold Standard in the spy action genre, but this Spectre is nothing but one long snoozer, peppered with a few typical chase scenes and "nothing new" action. It's 2 1/2 hours long, and could be reduced to about 55 minutes and still have the same effect.

Lame "tie in" story line from the previous Casino Bond flick, and there really isn't a villain, until about the last 30 minutes. After watching for 2 hours I kept asking myself, why am I watching this? Where is the villain? All this meat and no potatoes. Then, finally a villain appears. He was the only interesting person in the film, but he's only in the movie about 10 or 15 minutes.

I thought seeing how this was Craig's last run at being Bond, something special or amazing would appear in this film. If anything, the writers, the editor and the actor all pooped out before the film even started.

Horrible pacing. The movie would pick up the pace then drag you back down into a dreary and somewhat boring drama. Over and over again. Quite torturous to sit thru it at times.

The only thing amazing was the snazzy camera work. Visually appealing. If they only put that effort into a script and a storyline, the film might've been a last great one for Craig. But, unlike Kobe, Craig goes down with a sinking last film.

And don't look for any hot and sexy Bond girls in it either. Just one "old" ex hotty from the Matrix, (they used her to balance out Craig's aging looks) and then one blonde in her 20's..too young for Bond and she looks like she was bagging groceries at Vons before winning this role. No eye candy at all in regards to Bond girls. What a shame.

007 is dead. Long live 007.

Fingers crossed for the next new Bond. :thumbsup

I think biggest problem was story where villain was Bond half brother was totally confusing and unclear. But we need to be realistic, it is very hard to make something work what runs for so long. For example, supernatural used to be great show but now it's nothing more then recycling same old thing.

exactly. I fell asleep in the middle of this movie.

When I have trouble sleeping, I simply poo the bed... Makes it all warm soft and cozy and I soon drift off

I agree with your review...

This was one of those movies -- and I don't know if you guys have ever experienced this also --- but when it's almost over, it felt like it was just getting started. And I don't need to have action constantly because I am more of a fan of slow burn type movies that bunch up the action near the end, but there was something off with the pacing overall.

Thanks for the heads up as I haven't watched it yet. I didn't mind Casino Royale, but all of them since have been the same story line punctuated by parkour chase scenes. I miss the old futuristic, campy, sexist, far-fetched Bond Movies. Each one had a different theme.

It seems that they are trying to make the franchise more realistic, but have we so lost our sense of wonder and imagination (who cares if you have to suspend belief for an hour or two) that this is all we will accept?

Bond, James Bond

The good old days.

"No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die."

Another issue I forgot to mention is in the last few Bond movies (Craig) there is no campy humor at all. Bond used to have a small sense of humor and used it for contrast in the films to break up the violence. Some ginger for the brain.

But this last film, if I remember right, had 1 or 2 tiny moments of an attempt at comedy. It was like tossing a few drops of water on a burning building.

These filmmakers today lack style and writing ability. They are fantastic with camera angles and spending millions of dollars on budgets, but they can't write a script if their life depended on it.

Sad generation of filmmakers. All remakes, nothing original, except for spending more money on films that cost more than most countries GDP's.

I lked the movie. Was just watching all the old Bond movies also. I likes the new ones more. I was in Mexico City when they shot that scenes there. Took them 2 weeks.

The new Moneypenny is also a lot better.

This bond is paving the way for the next Bond who will cater to the snowflake generation.

All the films do now.

Even Star Trek has turned into an explosion every 10 mins kind of movie.

Filmmakers don't know how to use words anymore to explode the mind, it's all about explosive eye candy for the gnats watching.

I've been slowly watching it for weeks, I'm about half way...
