[SPAM ME] Affordable SSD hosting for a big tube site

I'm feed up with the current hosting that we use regarding their support response time. They are way too slow.

The server will be used on a production website to stream videos from it (no CDN).

Please spam me with hosting companies that have decent response time, and that are affordable. Unmanaged only. The servers have to have (big) SSD drive(s) for video content and more than 250Mbps of montly bandwidth.

Thank you!

AdultKing 06-03-2016 09:49 AM

How much storage do you need ?

Where, geographically, do you need the server ?

Why would you need support if it's unmanaged?

I've never needed support in 5+ years. If the back-end panel is bad and you can't do it all yourself, that's an issue.

Sly 06-03-2016 10:03 AM

How big, exactly?

What kind of mirroring would you like?

As mentioned above, "great support" and "unmanaged only" does not make sense.

It should be in USA or Canada. North America basically.

There was an incident with a faulty drive and they didn't respond in more than 12 hours so far to replace it. Luckily, it is RAID, so the website is still responsive. The fact that they don't respond despite the ticket status "Urgent" really pisses me off.

The drive should be at least 500GB SSD. Multiple drives are welcome.

What do you mean by "mirroring"? CDN or RAID?

How about replacing a faulty disk drive?

That could take +12h, but only on holidays or on really rare occasions.

I would go with OVH.

General support is: F
DMCA follow-up is: F (it also mostly doesn't apply where servers are located)
Support in english is: D

But, if you can write to them in french, could do it all yourself and know the local laws they have by far the best $$$/performance ratio you'll get.

I second OVH.

Disk failures in RAID configuration are usually rectified in under an hour.

Ummm, actually, not really. It could take up to a week. Based on a personal experience, unfortunately. Though they have a good performance per buck ratio, indeed.

Luckly i had no issue so far with OVH, but im getting worry of all stories i have been reading about their reaction time to solve a problem. I am also using online.net datacenter to compare results between them and online.net staff fixed lots of issues in the past fast enough in less than 24 hours. I did had lots of issues with them including motherboard failure, when got hacked and hdd failures. They are bit expensive than OVH but i can count on them they can solve problems in decent amount of time.

Marshal 06-13-2016 10:55 AM

Any good suggestions, except OVH?

Hi Scooter! There was no server specs listed on the website. I was not able to find anything there, without contacting your sales, except prices.

+1 for mojohost

j3rkules 07-01-2016 05:20 AM

freecartoonporn 07-01-2016 05:45 AM

why not create your own dedicated cloud ?

sandman! 07-01-2016 01:41 PM

Cheap + unmanaged = slow support

What your looking for does not exist :2 cents:

Geeze guys all the pro media buyers just spin up a new amazon EC2 instance when needed and then they only pay for what they use and can scale it to just about ANY size you can think of. If you are little more hands off, go with liquidweb, or wiredtree, maybe even m3server, they have specific packages for tube sites like you are looking for. Of course also mojohost :) and natnet. Isprime is also superb but a bit pricey. And don't whatever you do try to go ultra cheap on this......it's the one thing you must absolutely have a solid foundation with.

chaze 07-02-2016 02:35 PM

Wow, that are some solid needs. We could do it but we would have to build the sever and dedicated line for that size. It would be about $600 a month. 24/7 real time support. Adult Website Hosting - Web Hosting Support

The OVH pricing especially where bandwidth and storage is concerned is very good. Where we are now the price for storage is not really working for the tube model.

I'm almost pressing the order button here. I'll wait to see what else shows up in this thread.

According to my experience, which concerns me much more is the price of the bandwidth with the most offers that are there in adult.

What was your final decision? Did you go with OVH or someone else? I'm really curious to know is there anything else interesting that much.

any reason why you are opposed to the CDN?

According to my experience, Amazon is pretty expensive comparing to building your own cluster or cloud. I couldn't agree that there are no limits with growing with them, so there's not discussion about it.

I'll check out the other hosters mentioned above. Thanks!
