Should Olympics be canceled??

Olympics: Rio 2016's 'perfect storm' - CNN.com

The Olympic Games arrive in Brazil at a time when the country is ravaged by crises.
With two months to go until the cauldron is lit in Rio de Janeiro, the host of South America's first Games is grappling with a public health emergency, a governmental meltdown and economic woes.
While pressure and scrutiny in the build up to a major sports event is nothing new, Brazil faces a unique cocktail of difficulties.

Thoughts.

I think so, from a report I heard, the water in Rio is basically a sewer with floating human waste everywhere, just two teaspoons ingested causes infection. (Who tested 1 teaspoon??)

AdultKing 06-03-2016 09:05 AM

I think it will be one of the more interesting Olympic Games in a while, certainly one of the worst prepared.

beerptrol 06-03-2016 09:08 AM

The Olympic committee needs to be investigated like FIFA

2MuchMark 06-03-2016 09:11 AM

Yes they should be canceled.

EonBlue 06-03-2016 09:19 AM

Can't cancel them. That would be deemed racist.

I completely agree with that - Greece, Russia, China and Brazil are our recent host countries..... absolute sham.

I don't think Brazil should be cancelled though - zika only causes problems for pregnant women. Not a huge issue for olympic athletes (although a problem from the Brazilian people).

Will make Sochi look like Shangri La.

That's not entirely true. Zika can cause illness in anyone - fever, rash, joint pain, fatigue, etc. It is usually mild but there have been deaths related to complications arising from the infection.

Obviously not something to panic over but still something worth considering.

the olympic games are about sports and athletes competing...they should be free from politics and peoples opinions...

was watching a documentary the other day on greg luganis that gay diver athlete who won tons of medals and got aids...like in 1980 when carter decided to fuck over every single athlete who prepared for the olympics by deciding "boycott" ...they gave the american athletes medals of honor LOL what a joke...who the fuck is fuck face carter to decide anything?

the only people who should be asked are the athletes themselves...I do not know where people get off on canceling events for others...if you do not like the games in rio dont watch...very few people understand the level of preparation needed to compete and how hard people train...

should the USA cancel schools because of mass shootings? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

"oh some rooms were dirty in sochi lets cancel the games" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

get your fat asses out of your chairs and go do some sports :2 cents:

flashfire 06-03-2016 10:04 AM

they always say this about the world cup, Olympics, any big sporting event. "its gonna be a disaster, they are not ready, country in shambles"

and it always turns out fine...the venues and athlete housing are always miles away for the real problems

Dave

I was under the impression that it could also cause problems for future pregnancies too?

bronco67 06-03-2016 03:40 PM

A lot of Olympic athletes are going to be dipping into that Brazilian Zika pussy and flying it back to their home countries to start some nice outbreaks.

Hannes 06-03-2016 03:44 PM

i just want to see how they cope with all the shit thats going on

Tasty1 06-03-2016 03:47 PM

The flame was passing by some weeks ago on the way to Rio.

Of course, nothing but a world class joke! Pathetic

adultchatpay 06-03-2016 04:04 PM

They should move the Rio Olympics on a later date. The Brazilian government is telling everything is under control but it's not.

Rochard 06-03-2016 04:17 PM

This might be a disaster.

Oddly enough I've never been interested in the Summer Olympics. The Winter Olympics is always so much more fun.

The 'sportman' are just pussies. Even tourist are swimming there.
There is a bigger chance you get robbed when you get out of the water than getting Zika.

rio is fine if you do not carry an expensive camcorder and you stay out of the favelas...theres petty stuff like pickpocketing mostly...its one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it makes up in charm what it lacks in unrealistic expectations...

the games will bring up awareness..

CDSmith 06-04-2016 07:49 AM

Perhaps Brazil should never have petitioned for the games until they were actually ready, but no, the games themselves should never end or "be cancelled."

beerptrol 06-04-2016 08:06 AM

They should have permanent facilities where they hold the Olympics. Won't happen as the committee is so use to getting bribes

Yanks_Todd 06-05-2016 06:35 AM

They should only hold Olympics in countries that can financial handle it. Brazil should us that money to help their people. They also should be awarded for two Olympics on a rotation for a couple of cycles. UK-US-UK-US-EU-Japan-EU-Japan. Something like that. A country could monetize them the second time around with out much more investment to the 8-10 year old games infrastructure.

Yes, in a perfect world. In Brazil the government would just steal that money also to put it in their pockets. Just like with Petrobras.

Their govt. is like ours. Here in Russia they "spent" 50 billion dollars to the winter olympic games. In fact Putin and his gang just stole all those money.

scarlettcontent 06-05-2016 02:09 PM

we will see what happens soon

MartinCamsPower 06-06-2016 12:42 AM

People would go mad if they would cancel it..
