another photoshop question...

how do you cut things out, like an odject (ie person or something) out of a photograph? especially this being done without a strenuous amount of work with the paint brush...

also, this would be a lot nicer (i assume this can be done) that you can cut something out to be a layer, where just the object is the layer, if you get what i'm saying.

i still can't figure out the transparency thing, i dunno what the deal is, using PS 7.0, so if you have pointers on that, that would be great too.

anyways, thanks.

Find the magnetic lasso :winkwink:

aztecvision 03-27-2003 04:32 PM

zoom in and use the pen tool to trace out the object and then load the path as selection.

That's because you should _not_ use the magnetic lasso. At least, not unless there is a really clear definition between the object you want and the stuff behind it. In my opinion, removing objects from a background is the hardest thing to learn about graphics design. Just keep working at it, though, and you'll learn all kinds of little tricks.

I believe this is done best with Image/Extract.

Play around with that tool.

Can't give you any more than that I'm afraid, look on the net for tutorials...or the help file maybe?
