Question, Does voicing opposition to the war, make you Anti American?

There seem to be a lot of hotheads in here who seem to think so. What do you think ??

Sly_RJ 03-27-2003 03:30 PM

No.

Although many of the people who do express opposition to the war also express their hate for the US. I think that's why people start to relate them...

I think stupid people think there's a correlation.. :)

Cheers,

My momma always said if you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all :Graucho

For real I don't think there is anything wrong with voicing an educated opinion, but talking trash will piss people off

Agree. But those people say, your either with us, or against us. So, if you dont support the war, you are anti-american. Sounds stupid? Yes, it is.

delia 03-27-2003 03:37 PM

What's the logic of the correlation between those two? Might be because the americans started the war?

That's not what I see at all. The "hotheads" are all on the other side of the fence. Read the threads. I haven't seen many people go off on someone just for saying "I think I am against the war." It's all these assholes wishing death on American citizens, wishing death on American soldiers, hoping for terrorism against us, accusing us of the same stupid things over and over again. How much should someone have to put up with?

I think not. But I think being a hypocrite is offensive. basking in the freedoms this country provides, and then objecting to the method that those freedoms are provided with is annoying.

Not to mention that throwing stuff at cops, and attacking businesses, as well as insulting anyone who disagrees, is extremely hypocritical of the peace movement.

dav555add 03-27-2003 03:42 PM

This is a free country. You are allowed to express your opinion. Just be respectful. All anti war opinions are welcome; as long as it makes sense. Don't fall as low as our european friends who obviously can't come up with an intelligent reasons why they are against this war.

I Personally could give a fuck if people think those opposing the war are anti-american. As far as I'm concerned everything this administration has done is anti-american and goes against what America is truly about. From hijacking the country with a bullshit election to trashing the constitution to invading a country that has not attacked us. Fuck them and the people that back it.

Gemini 03-27-2003 04:17 PM

Might be because the americans started the war?

Hey that's RIGHT! The USA invaded Kuwait in 90 or so and that great friend to ALL the people of that region threw us out! Right??

You can be against the war and for our nation and troops at the same time. Patriotism does NOT mean going along with everything your government tells you to. Especially when your government is run by a guy like dubya :)

I have to admit that that is true ... A dumb post... But please do not get me to pull out all dave555add posts ....

No unless you go to far. The time to oppose the war was before it started. Once it begins, you support your country.

Of course not. This county was built on disent.

However, blocking streets, and shutting down commerce makes you a criminal :thumbsup

cluck 03-27-2003 08:28 PM

I'm anti-war and anti-american. I try not to let the two come out in the same way though.

Destruction in the name of peace is just plain dumb. You don't wreck cars if you're protesting a war. I think alot of these dumbass protestors saw the Seattle WTO protest videos and thought that that's what they're supposed to do in any situation. When the WTO comes around and there are protests, THE ENEMY IS IN TOWN. That's when you start flipping cars and stuff, because they're part of the WTO meetings. When you go out into the middle of the road in any random place, where's the enemy you're facing? There is none, therefore there's no need to attack anybody.

Stupid hippie fuckers.

Seems like any time you voice opposition to our government or the war, etc. Conservatives everywhere label you anti-American, bleeding heart liberal, love it or leave it blahblahblahblahblah

It's funny how freedom of speech comes at a price in situations like this.

It's also funny how whenever you voice your opinion in support of the government, "liberals" everywhere label you a sheep, brainwashed, Bush lover, idiot, etc... need I go on?

Can't tell you how many times I've been called a "sheep" by people that I often agree with. Does that make them a sheep too?

Freedom of Speech has nothing to do with your argument. You're free to speak as you will. Nobody is persecuting you. Nobody is threatening the life of you or your family to "shut up".

Freedom of Speech gives you the right to criticize the government/war, or whatever you want. Freedom of Speech also gives ME the right to criticize YOU if I disagree with your stance.

Note: I can't hit you for your opinions. But I can criticize you, all within the bounds of Freedom of Speech.

Just ignore the conservatives. Everyone knows they're brainwashed sheep who can't think for themselves.

At least that's what I hear around here.

The standard liberal practice is to ignore conservatives. The FACTS we keep throwin out there are really quite devastating to your arguments, aren't they?

Yes. It's always for the oil.

Although this time it's so we can light the oil on fire and give Cheney's former company a contract to put the fires out.

I dunno. I kinda like the massivecock/wonton side. It's really liberating being able to type whatever you want without any consideration for reality.

This is definitely the side for lazy people. All you have to do is memorize a catchy phrase like "it's all about oil" and repeat that. Then the other side has to actually get a list of countries we've had conflicts with that never had any oil and prove that it's not about oil.

'tis fun over here. Get your tinfoil hat and join me.
