Can you make money if you started a porn site today in 2016?
2016 is not 2002.
There was a time you could find a solo model and set up a pay site and it would sell. You could set up almost any porn site and it would get sales. But today we have a new generation of porn lovers who do not get the 'paysite model'. For them porn is free on porn tubes. So can you make money if you started a site brand new today? You could have the best big boobed model and a nice looking site, but within days all the content is on tubes. Sure you can moan and may get some pirated content removed, but in truth its probably like removing a grain of sand from a beach. The affect being next to nothing. However it does seem that some sites still make it. FakeTaxi seemed rather new. Its has also got into the press a lot. One presumes this site has and may still do get good sales. But one also feels that this was not a cheap project. The key one could conclude is that if you have a vast budget and probably a team of people, then you can get your site going. However it is also clear that while at one point the affiliates seemed vast, today one feels that the affiliate numbers and dropping quick, and even the remainder affiliates seem to have less interest. As such one wonders even a great site may get next to no publicity in today's world. |
Various folks say the ratios are 1:6000 now - course they have been saying that for 4 years now. Then someone pops on and says they're at 1:243 or something like that, and you never hear from them again.
circa 600,000,000 people watch porn once a month. In theory the total pool of revenue for porn sites is only a few billion. A widely quoted figure was 4.9bil, but that was 2010. |

It's not just about the ratio, it's about the traffic. I have sites with ratio 1:200 , but not much traffic, so overall they don't make a lot of $$, and i had sites that converted 1:2000 but had tons of traffic and made a lot of money. And yes, 2016 it's not what it was a few years ago, not even close. You need to have a premium quality content that cost a lot to produce, and to do a lot of work with promotion. |
Moan moan fucking moan.
Why not just stop users downloading your content. If they can't download it they can't share it. Problem solved. Plenty of peole make a killing off tubes BTW and I don't mean stolen content. If you are too stupid to work it out it's not our fault. |
There were people who couldn't open a porn site in the glory days that made a profit.
|
Sure you can! the only thing is TRAFFIC. That is where it all about. If you have traffic the revenue will follow.
I would suggest you focus the first period only on traffic, don't push banners/pops etc to much in the beginning. You need to focus on your own users, before you make money out of it. Once you have a solid amount of traffic, you can think about monetization. But yes, you can still can make money with adult these days! |
Yes you can but you're going to need a dedicated individual who can monitor the images also there is software that was around that can track your images and movies. You're right though - get a good model and niche will be the key to starting along with networking and great traffic. I've seen people who have a dedicated niche such as hairy content and end up with 70k unique hits daily simply because they put the effort into it and learned to be flexible to accept new ways to get the word out.
|
sure, why not? the thing its to think at the people that want to pay, not the people that looks for free porn
|
How many times I have said it here...Content is the King...:2 cents: If you have good, new and fresh content you will make money. If you do not, then join the thousands pushing stolen content on tubes, dating sites where guys claim to be women or cam sites with whores looking like Belzebub...
...the OP got it right, fake taxi was good, was new and different and fresh..it has its following now..and the rest "fake whatevers "are just limping in copmarison.. |
I don't know...is there good porn involved? Or is it the same run-of-the-mill, dime a dozen mediocre bullshit that's on 90% of sites?
|
yes you can still make money....
|
Yes, for the remaining time of humans on earth, there will be no new profitable adult websites.
|
If this was all about faketaxi than this is a great traffic/affiliate generating method...
If not, than go and ask the same question in all the adult internetz and replace faketaxi with your domain :) If you want to make money today from the adult niche, than go and sign up to neatcams.com affiliates...we made about $1billion/month. :P ;) |
Of course you can.
Find the right model and the right group of people with the right traffic, and it could be magical. Find a teen model with a huge rack, get all of the big breasted solo girls to push traffic for you, easy money. |
As long as people are paying for porn, which in my opinion, will always happen ...then yes, you can make money. I've been running my pay site (as a full time job) ever since I launched it back in 2005. The site has always (and very much so continues) to do very well in terms of sales ....even to this day. The sales are very steady and the member retention rate to the site is great since I always update the members area with new and fresh content. You see, you can make money but there are things that need to be done.
You need to shoot content that people really want to see (niche doesn't matter ...shoot what YOU are personally into, as this will drive you even more and be GOOD at whatever you do. Updated members area (regularly and ongoing) Affiliate program (keep it updated with new fhgs, banners etc) Helps to have a selection of several local models that you can work with - shoot them, obtain referred models from them A solid and ongoing shooting location with lighting / equipment A nice and ongoing source of TRAFFIC - Many different ways to generate traffic. Purchased traffic, affiliate traffic, social networking traffic, TGP submission traffic ...etc Networking with other webmasters / affiliates on webmaster forums There are actually many more suggestions that I could list here ....but just to keep it short, you do indeed have to WORK at all of this, as it is a job and should be taken as such. But yes ...if you ask me, you can most definitely make money working in the online adult entertainment industry. |

you cant compare the period 10years ago and now.its way difficult and hard to make money these days
|
There is still a fuckload lot of money to be made in porn. Follow trends to find that niche, that hole in the market where your product or innovation will fit thenanalyze current clients and their needs.
|
i have a little over 200$ with a site i opened about 1 month ago, so yea, u can, not big from start, but u can
|
Of course you can. There are many new sites making a ton of money. The main difference now is you actually have to create quality content. If you create the same crap as everyone else then you will fail. You have to create content people want to pay for. You also need to have traffic of course but that is a different set of skills. The best arrangement is to have a great content creator and a great marketing partner.
|
You can make money doing anything. You'll have to actually work though.
|
depend on level of theft
|
Good conversation here and as one of the largest billing companies in the adult industry, I can tell you that it is absolutely possible to start now and still make $$$. We see it every week with new merchants. It is more difficult than in the past but it definitely is possible.

The answer is yes. However, the bottom line is that you have to either have great fresh content or a new idea that will retain new traffic.
I don't know what's next. Virtual Reality Porn? A revolutionary new smartphone app? Don't try to get started with old, regurgitated content. Or worse yet, stolen content. I think it's too late to make money with "copycat" websites too. Everybody and there brother has tried to re-invent the "porn" wheel, when kids these days have moved on to hover boards anyways... IF you can bring something new to the table, you can make good money. |

You can have 10,000 an hour land on your site every hour. It's easy. The problem is if they don't like what they see, you'll go broke very quickly. Traffic is very easy to get, just buy it. Free traffic relies on having something promotional the customer likes, stimulates his interests enough to pay for. Hence, the continual belief that a new format, HD, 3D, VR will make average porn exceptional. |

Fucking hasn't much changed in the last 200 million years. So there's no point in thinking you can invent a new way to fuck. Fake Taxi is a girl in a car having sex, old hat. So it has to be done to a level that makes it great. The girls being fucked, the fact it's being shot, the ups and downs of shooting are interesting and if shot properly great viewing. If I was shooting for a paysite my aim would be to make the BTS the promotional content. Even shoot it to a level that Youtube and Vimeo will allow it. The trick is to keep it soft and not link it to a paysite. Of course, I wouldn't promote it on any Tube site. That defeats the object. The trick is to make the promotional intriguing enough to make enough viewers want to see what happened when the action was going on. Is it possible today to put up a Tube site that's an adult related YT without defeating the object of getting people to sign up? Or just pay for ads to get viewers to the site. The strange thing is Mindgeek not doing it. They would prefer to give away thweir content hoping 1-30,000 buy a $30 membership. :upsidedow |

DVTimes couldn't create good content of the greatest models. No offence mate, but you simply don't have the skills set. |

Plenty of people making money off of porn sites in 2016 - if there wasn't you wouldn't see so many porn sites...everywhere you go online there's a porn site linking to some affiliate program, selling traffic, doing dating, webcams, and whatever else. You might not be able to put up some jumbled mess off a thumbnail gallery and make millions overnight like it's the 90's but if you are serious about making money off of porn online and work at it and not giving up, there's a good chance you'll succeed. |
