The Phoenix Forum -- worth paying for?

Hi all,

Having heard the rants and raves about this event on this board, I'd like to get some feedback on attending. By the time I had decided to attend and went to the site to register, the free registration period had ended, and now they're asking for $250 to attend the event. So I've been thinking this over and whether it's worth paying to attend. I'm starting a company to market adult sites and perhaps this would be a way to meet potential clients and have fun at the same time. I'm in LA and would probably fly but could also drive. I figure total cost would be about $750 including fees, hotel, travel, etc.

Is this a fairly small gathering of people who mostly know each other and do you think it would be worth it for me to attend? Are there other events coming up that are much larger and more well-attended? I don't want to pay for it only to find it's a handful of webmasters and not of much benefit. What are the main reasons for attending?

Hopefully some of you can help me with this decision. My impression is that it's quite small compared to other events (Montreal, Internext in Aug., etc.). Any thoughts?

Thanks,
David

this year looks to be the biggest yet.

the last 2 I went to had tons of people and this one I think will shatter those 2 combined.

All the more reason to attend. Net-working in smaller groups is much for productive then large groups. I know for a fact there will be much mor ethen a small group of webmasters. Go look at teh wevsite.. It is loaded with a ton of webmasters that will be going.

davidpornboi, it wasn't as much that the 'period' had ended, it was that the event filled up quickly.

i think that it is worth going to, but i am not going to hide my bias ;)

It is a great way to meet people in the industry...check out the attendance list to give yourself an idea of who is going to be there

also, if you have any specific questions for me about it, feel free to icq me

The Forum is by far and away the best non Internext event there is. The caliber of people who spend the money on tickets and arguably the nicest resort rooms outside of the Vegas show every year is just phenomenal. You simply do not get the guy with a hundred bucks and a PC who wants to get into porn at this show... you get the owners of companies that do thousands of joins a day, and you get their undivided attention if you sit down to speak with them. You get people with millions of productive hits, great products, the cream of the crop.

Yes, I am biased as well, but the Forum simply is the best small scale event to go on.

Consider it an investment, in your future! How much is that worth ?? Even if you come away with one good idea, the trip is paid for :2 cents:

Hey, I'll be there, and that alone makes it worth it.

I'll be there :)

Unfortunately I wont be staying at the resort because by the time i had phoned to book our suite the hotel was fully booked up :(

Never the less Im looking forward to meeting a lot of old friends and making some new ones.

The business side of things should be great too a has already been mentioned, if you come away with a single idea the trip was worth it :)

However, the fact you can get proper time to spend with your potential clients and exisitng clients make this one of the must see events and im glad im going this year :thumbsup

Regards,

Lee
