DOJ charges Trump with antitrust violations

Under the Reagan administration Donald Trump paid out $750k in fines for antitrust violations after being sued by the United States Department of Justice.

https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/cases-proceedings/861-0148/trump-donald-j-us

Trump says he never settles lawsuits.

Should it be legal for those who break federal laws to run for POTUS?

beerptrol 05-23-2016 10:32 AM

It should be illegal for his supporters to breed

Brace yourself for the excuses and finger pointing!

Whatever happened to the litmus test for being qualified to run for POTUS?

1) Refuses to release taxes

2) Charged with antitrust & pays fines

I hope the GOP gets their shit together and has something in the works behind the scenes to get rid of this fraudulent clown.

Being rich ain't easy, everyone wants your money.

Vote for Hillary who lines the Clinton's pockets with hush money from the suadi's... something to the tune of 100 million if I remember correctly. That's just one example, many, many bribe money went into Clinton foundation. All that money is so nothing changes.

If you followed your own links you would see that it was a civil penalty, not criminal; and there is no litmus test that suggests one must release taxes to prove they are qualified to be POTUS.

Donald Trump has been a party in 169 federal lawsuits, this post is just one.

I'd respect the criminal that never gets caught over the one that's always in court.

A civil penalty for breaking the law. Trump broke federal law and paid fines.

Trump tells us he's worth Billions but won't prove it with his taxes. He also never paid the Vets $6 million like he said on TV.

That douche Romney would be better than Trump at this point.

Publically stating you would rather have hitlery for president because she is a criminal who doesn't get caught is a great indicator of the type of person you are.

Trump breaking federal law is not "people wanting your money"

I said Romney would be better than Trump. This isn't a partisan discussion, though you've just shown you'll try hard to deflect & drag into the gutter.

The general election is 6 months away, pace yourself Beaner

It's better to know nothing then half of something. Federal civil suits is the federal government wanting his money. The irs auditing trump every single year is the government wanting his money. See the pattern?

Rochard 05-23-2016 12:58 PM

The state of NY has sued him thirteen times for failure to pay taxes.... Trump just does what ever he wants.

If I am reading the final judgement correctly... Trump said he was guilty and was fined $750k.

I don't care if it was civil or criminal or what not. Trump is calling Hillary crooked, yet no one is more crooked than Trump - You know, the one who claims he owns politicians.

The court found in favor of the DOJ and Trump was forced to pay $750k within 10 days after that was a 19% penalty.

Here is more info on his 169 federal lawsuits
http://lawnewz.com/high-profile/we-investigated-donald-trump-is-named-in-at-least-169-federal-lawsuits/

The bigger issue for Trump is he's had multiple tax liens on bank accounts and property for not paying taxes owed.

Another certain oversight on his part is claiming in his POTUS financial disclosure forms that a property is worth $50 million and generating income, while fighting with properly assesors saying it's worth something like $4 million and not making any money. More about those issues here:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/05/19/trumps-tax-troubles/84543538/

At least Romney ran a tight ship with his businesses and had no issues with liens, anitrust payouts, double talk on the value of assets etc. Trump is a financial mess.

dyna mo 05-23-2016 01:49 PM

Good work op! Unfortunately Trump isn't winning because of his resume. He's winning because the government is currently even more despicable than he is. If government were working satisfactorily, Trump wouldn't be anywhere near the WH. That's why negative attacks against him aren't working.

OMG, trump filed paperwork late OMG!!!

Quote:

The complaint charges that, in two separate transactions, Trump acquired stock in Holiday Corp. and Bally Manufacturing Corp. through Bear Stearns in an amount well beyond the dollar threshold at which he should have filed premerger notifications with the FTC and DOJ. Trump eventually made the appropriate filings but not within the time frame established by the HSR Act.
thats what this thread is about, late paperwork :1orglaugh

this is the desperation of the left, because their anointed one is about to be schlonged by the FBI with serious criminal charges. so look, trump filed his paperwork late, criminal!

Trump has an offensive strategy. You know what Trump's weaknesses are because he'll hit first, and hard, at his opponent ( or those associated ) and brand them as his weakness to take some of the sting away from what he knows is coming.

He's branded Hillary as crooked & Bill as a raping womanizer, so we know that Trump knows these are his own weaknesses. We all know there's a lot more coming in the next 6 months.

At first Trump's offensive strategy was being used as it should be, to become the leader, set the tone & gain market share. Done, he got the nomination. But he pivoted to the GE way to early with a couple big attacks, he's not letting things ebb & flow, with that he's risking saturation and saturation is a minefield where he becomes defensive & perceived as weak.

Regardless of who wins it will be a fascinating 6 months!

CIA agents maybe died because hilary had their names on her unprotected server. why do you think the state dept read the emails hilary provided & they contacted the FBI & they been investigating ever since? did you know wiping that server was a crime? they can throw her in the clink, just for that.

i get that. and if publically releasing tax returns is a big deal to him, then he shouldn't vote for Trump. he's been running around here frantically waving his arms over Trump not releasing his tax doc, i just suggested an easier better way for all of us, don't vote for him.

not publically releasing tax doc isn't really on par with starting a world war and exterminating millions of people.

Why spin facts?

Trump was trying to take over a company by purchasing 25% voting shares in excess of $15 million and was using Bears Sterns as a frontman to bypass regulators. After buying a majority of the shares he THEN notified regulators which put him in a waiting period of 30 days before buying more shares, he ignored the waiting period and bought more shares anyway, continuosly for about 3 months.

It doesn't look like you read the 7 indictments. Trump got off with a slap on the wrist.

Remember this was under the Reagan administration, not some liberal witch hunt.

I can picture the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff advising Trump on a complex situation in the Middle East, and Trump will just have blank look on his face -- thinking up some bullshit to create the façade that he actually understood, and is processing the variables to arrive at a decision which will address the subtlety and nuance required for such a delicate situation.

Imagine how funny that would be.

I think nearly all Presidents go into the situation room not having any real idea of what is going on or how to handle a situation. Can you honestly tell me Obama had a firm grasp of the Jewish / Palestinian situation, and have ideas on how to fix it? Maybe more than you and I, but only barely so.

I think being President of the United States is the most challenging job there is. And just when the President thinks they are doing a good job, something they had no idea existed suddenly pops up and smacks them silly.

It's crystal clear that he will be the catalyst for WWIII were he to be elected.

I don't say that in a partisan way.

I've never researched a candidate and seen so much blantant lying and corruption as I have with Trump. Not paying his bills, having liens put on property & bank accounts frozen is one thing, but saying he supports American workers as he's importing foreign ones for tax breaks, saying he supports American made products while all of his products are made in China.

I know Trumps base is angry and they have every right to be but they aren't stupid and at some point the Trump facade will crumble and they'll see him for the wealthy lowlife he is.

Every election in my life, when the two nominees are chosen, I've felt like either one and things will ultimately be ok. Trump is the first nominee where I see WWIII and America being destroyed. Am I the only one?

I really don't think it would be this drastic blade wire. Especially the ww3 stuff. And certainly not destroying America. A lot of negativity is being bandied about right now but that's not uncommon at this point in the election cycle. I think there's a long time between now and ww3.

This isn't us VS them partisan talk. I hope something huge happens and Romney steps in he'd do for POTUS. Jeb Bush would work, even Rubio. Paul Ryan will be an awesome president when he finally runs & wins.

Trump's a great cheerleader but he's a toxic immoral loose cannon not capable of being POTUS, he's too selfish. Of all the previous candidates Trump is the only one you can define that way based on facts.

Trump isn't running for POTUS to serve the people, he's running for the people to serve him.
