Another ridiculous PC blackmail

Robin Wright demanded the same salary as Kevin Spacey for 'House of Cards' ? or she would go public
Robin Wright 'House of Cards' salary - Business Insider

Studio had to let themselves be blackmailed in order to avoid PC and SJW scum mafia attacks in the media.

Of course she was offered lower salary because she was a woman actor. And definitely not because Kevin Spacey was much bigger name.
And no, the fact that your character is equally or more popular, than character played by the top star, does not warrant you equal pay.

Pay gap of $1 million is quite a pay gap.

nico-t 05-21-2016 06:18 AM

never heard of her.

I've heard of kevin spacey for 20 years.

But it was not the reason of the pay gap. It was because she was a woman!

As well as the gap between their "star status' (especially before the show) was also quite a gap.

agreed.

Kevin Spacey is well known and nobody heard of, see I don't even know what her name is, until House of Cards.

who even gives a shit about that?

she negotiated and agreed to do the job for $x, so she is doing it for $x...
Spacey negotiated a pay of $y, and so he is getting paid $y...

end of story...

And after the negotiation she decided to blackmail the studio by using woman's card and the scare of PC/SJW media into changing those agreed terms.

Saw this the other day.

My question: since she got paid and Netflix should have been able to avoid the public scrutiny, why do we know about it?

She just added herself to every blacklist over $1M, of course she will blame sexism afterwards. She was a nobody before HoC and still has no name, she has squandered a great stepping stone that most will never get over $1M and "being right."

LetterTwenty7 05-21-2016 08:00 AM

Poor thing, get's paid only 5.5M... I could send her 20 bucks if only I knew her paypal!

Translation: She's a cunt.

pimpmaster9000 05-21-2016 05:39 PM

and the chicken delivery guy who appears for 3 seconds in episode 4 wants kevin spacey money too...and so does the coffee lady

Write a car accident into the script. Add some bimbo romantic interests for the Senator -- no one will notice after a few episodes.

Problem solved -- most people and their roles are replaceable.

hottoddy 05-21-2016 06:03 PM

She was ruined by Sean Penn. Does she seriously think she's Spacey's equal? Does she think her role on the show is equal? She's clearly 2nd banana, and her story arcs tend to suck. I would definitely watch the show without her, but probably not without Spacey.

kane 05-21-2016 06:14 PM

It is hard for me to feel bad for someone who is making $5.5 million dollars to shoot 13 episodes of a TV show.

That said, in this particular case she is just as much a part of this show as he is and she has won a Golden Globe for her work on it so it isn't like she is just a minor character.

Hannes 05-21-2016 06:18 PM

the gap only shows who is more demanded in the industry. i understand a difference in pay, however there should be an effort to try and compensate for the actor who isn't making as much. Nothing taken away from the lead actor though.

Who is saying that her role is minor? Nobody.

People are saying:
1. Spacey is much bigger name = more money. Nothing sex related.
2. Her character is not as important/big as Spacey. And even if it was - see #1.

If someone invited YOU and Spacey to act as equal characters you would stil get paid WAY less because you would be lesser known name. How some people can not grast this basic concept is unbelievable.

I take it you've never watched the show. :1orglaugh

I saw her in some god-awful movie with Woody Harrelson the other night - Rampart. Truly sucked. And she sucked (literally).

Maybe needs more money to fill in that hole in her neck.

Hopefully Frank Underwood takes her out with a letter-opener in the Oral Office in the next season.

i dont think we know enough facts to judge this to be a case of fake PC anger. i think, generally, the ladies of hollywood have a case. the idea of spaceys star being bigger is subjective. i dont think anyone goes to the movies just to see kevin spacey. no more than robin wright. i know who i'd rather see on the screen.

otherwise, i agree with the other 95% of your posts.

:2 cents:

Exactly! Was fucked up she got away getting the same pay. I doubt she'll work much after this, I hope not anyway. Spacey is the reason people watch that show.
