Change in plans: not entering Baghdad...
Just heard we aren't going into Baghdad until 50% of the Republican Guard is taken out by air strikes. Which seems to make sense and is fine by me.
Anyone else hear this? Oh, also, there was no convoy leaving Baghdad today, only Basra. |

Makes sense to me. They can stay outside Baghdad for a year, if it saves 100 troops it's worth it. Lock those fuckers inside Baghdad, don't let anything in or out.

Supply ships are docking at the Iraqi port tomorrow. The city is secure enough to start unloading goods. The goal is to get that city functional fairly quickly to get those Iraqi civilians back to work and living a hopefully better life. Would definitely be a good sign for other Iraqi civilians throughout the country. |

blah it was obvious that they would never enter city!!!
it would be fucking insane!!!!!!! |
they should sit there and draw the republican guard outside the city..
then bomb the fuck out of them. urban warfare is a bitch but if anyone can do it, its the U.S Forces. i think just sitting outside of Baghdad would make them attack, hence drawing them out |
If I was Saddam I would integrate Republican Guard units so well with the civilian population of Baghdad that it would be impossible to distinguish between the two. Put 5 Republican guard inside one room in every house or something. That would force the US to fight house to house, street to street for the entire city.
It completely nullifies US air superiority, because they can't be seen bombing civvie houses and apt. buildings. Maybe Saddam is not as smart as I am, but I can't imagine he isn't going to try this strategy. |
