Anyone using COX internet service? Do they enforce the caps?

I think I only get 2TB with the new internet plan I ordered
But I never thought they enforced those too much, but it's been awhile since I've been here or used their service
Does anyone know ? ?

Thank you :)

Looks like this is from early 2016

Sounds hilarious to me

One thing I can definitely tell you is that any time you ever have service from them, expect it to cost more than you anticipated or they said, by a lot. They don't like to send itemized bills or explain very much, either. Meanwhile you may or may NOT get the promotional rebate offer and once they even changed my rate 2 months into a 6 month promo and refused to fix it or anything
Many people I use to work on computers for have told me that the techs are good if you ever need one which I never do, at all, so they at least have good service . but you pay for it . They are supposedly going to charge me $160/mo and I aready know it'll be $240 or so

Meanwhile I have to wait days for the service to start because I can't give them a MAC ID and hook the thing up, no hell no they have to come here and all of this . FFS .

When I worked for their tech support long ago, we would prefer to set it up over the phone, or using the installation disk..
I'd call back and see if anyone else will just set up the modem real quick if that's all you need.

Used to go way over my cap every month, over doube and triple when I had a 350gb cap. I got a warning email 1 time. They raised their cap last year. I also upgraded to the 300/30 with 2000gb cap a few months ago,I haven't gone over that one yet.

abshard 05-15-2016 05:47 PM

Also I have had 3 different modems and every time I set it up over the phone.

noshit 05-15-2016 05:51 PM

Nope. And I would refuse Mediacom as well :2 cents:

.

MrMaxwell 05-15-2016 10:06 PM

They said the first install HAS to be done by some guy coming out to bother me
Sigh
Add my mac id to your white list or what ever you call it and give me service ffs . waiting is stupid and so seventies .

For what I'm paying they should send two topless bimbos over to install the stupid thing

MrMaxwell 05-23-2016 02:53 AM

YaY cable
Rescheduled again
Well
At least it's better than comcast
anything is better than a comcast

MrMaxwell 05-25-2016 04:42 PM

Wow
This is a lot faster
Good work Cox
I got a fucking UBEE router with it
But they said their netgears are having problems
Of course the UBEE won't talk to me much

There's a transfer cap
It's supposed to be 2TB but they don't enforce it according to everyone
I'm at 100+ because the 200 meg service was too expensive and I don't need it . . I'd pay for more upload speed . for sure . they call it "turbo boost" but it's just basically a burstable connection . no more than 12 megs or so sustained upload speed :(

If you get 100/100 I want that

If you arent paying $160+ per month for cox internet alone (not counting their shitty phone or cable tv), then you're on a residential package. My business contract mentions nothing about a transfer cap.

A business contract also means I never have more than 2 hours of downtime. I've had them at my house fixing the splitter at the sidewalk at 1am before. You can be down for days with just residential service, while business customers get priority.

Agreed
I have no reason on planet earth to pay for business level service at all
For three months I was stuck with a 3G connection so I'm just pleased to have this much bandwidth
I would love to have more upload speed I'd God damned near pay another 100 per month if you're getting 100 meg upload speeds but not right now while I am so fucked

When or if I have down time I have a trick for getting them on the stick - also - I still have the 3G for any emergencies so I could at least have something

Colmike9 05-27-2016 08:37 PM

If you're in Vegas with a residential account, it might take 2-3 weeks to be able to send out a tech.. That was fucking annoying when working there, I got yelled at a lot lol..

Rochard 05-27-2016 09:00 PM

I get Internet included with my HOA fees. No caps.

brassmonkey 05-27-2016 10:37 PM

my shit is hella fast!!! make sure you get the right modem :2 cents::2 cents:

MrMaxwell 05-27-2016 10:41 PM

I have a fkn UBEE
It won't talk to me sometimes but the speed is fine so far ... right at 125 megs per second and fifteen+ up
Doesn't seem to mind having 9999 devices using it all of the time either
Good ping times too
I hate UBEE though

MrMaxwell 05-28-2016 12:11 AM

This UBEE actually seems fine if I use chrome
It hates firefox and I have firefox set up to do non standard tasks so that's probably why
I've had huge problems talking to ubees in the past but the Cox tech they sent out to install it all must've been right - it's great with the newest FW
Also I forgot to explain what I mean by talking to me, I mean when I want to change settings or fuck with it through the admin panel
Also NO known attacks I know how to use work on UBEEs at all - reaver, reaver pixie dust, default pin generators, etc, and it lets you disable wps completely so I think they're pretty good routers. I should probably stop hating them now.
