I have a question for non english speakers...
 

in English there is the speech pattern of stating 'but' midway in a sentence... I perceive this to be putting the part of the sentence before 'but' in contention with the remainder of the sentence after 'but'. example: I love you but I can't leave my wife.

are there similar patterns in your language and speech mannerisms?

"and" should be "but" there...

Why would you think this is unique pattern? It is exactly like that in all 4 languages I know.
