Laws of war part deux
Was just watching Fox and they were interviewing a judge (don't recall the name) anyway he stated that there are over 1,500 lawyers on the battlefield right now to basically act as legal counsel for just about every commander out there.
This is so that when they are confronted with difficult decisions they can make them knowing full well what the consequences might be tomorrow or 20 years from now. These lawyers are equipped with laptops that have them tapped into the top law libraries in the world so they can answer any and every question they come across. Just thought this was interesting, never even considered they'd do something like this. Probably always have, but anyway thought I'd pass it on. |
Lawyers run the world.

POWs from the last gulf war filed a 900 million dollar lawsuit against saddam. It's a crazy world.

But from what this judge explained, and in all honesty I caught the tail end of this discussion he said that once Iraq violated the geneva convention then all bets are off. In other words, if an Iraqi soldier now comes up pretending to be a civilian we can shoot now and ask questions later...without warning. Doubt they'd do that at this point, but I'm sure these things have already been discussed in their rules of engagement when they go block to block throug Baghdad. |
