Yeah Baby!! UWaterloo all the way! I did CS there and I can tell you this year is probably going to be the hardest to get in with the double cohord, so you'll need 90%+ probably. But it's definitely one of the best known around the world as we typically rate in top 5 in the ACM competitions. It's not that cheap though, about $3000 per semester but a wicked coop program to help pay those high bills...

Want cheap, stick to anything in Quebec, McGill or Concordia probably.

There is a back door route to getting into Waterloo. (It worked for me anyway)
If you enter as a mature student, your entrance is based entirely on a casual interview and attitude. Since you don't need to enter directly into a degree program, just choose courses that will apply later, and you're all set.

LOL...really, its something to think of. There is some pretty ignorant shit out there and dont think it isnt happening in the schools here too.

If you are in alberta
U of A
Sait
Nait

They aren't cheap, but they are the best here.

Mr Cheeks 03-26-2003 02:18 PM

thanx guys. how about in the vancouver area. nothing there?

Simon-interaid 03-26-2003 02:21 PM

for vancouver area.

Go to BCIT.

Get the Bachelors of technology.

Its 10x better than the degrees you get from SFU or UBC.

That is if you want to get a job eventually. :thumbsup

DrGuile 03-26-2003 02:35 PM

If you want quebec, only 3 english universities:

McGill in montreal
Concordia also in montreal
and Bishop University in Lennoxville, really nice and small university, really cool atmosphere, but not the best academically I think.

that shouldn't be a problem. my cousin grew up mostly in germany and france. he actually speaks both fluently.

personally, i'd prefer that comes here in the US. he can help me with my project since he is a decent linux admin already. but he's just glued on going to college in canada. ain't no biggie though, i'll prolly have him run some sites from his dorm room anyways :)

He speaks france? Interesting :p

seriously, than he should consider Université de Sherbrooke co-op program.

you have courses one semester, the next you work in a paid stage, classes the next... etc....

Actual work experience is the best way to learn if you ask me.

aight. let me check it out. but i would prefer that he goes to an english program though. i think that'll be better for him in the long run. french is pretty much useless. nobody speaks it but france and a bunch of underdeveloped countries.

Za Ha 03-26-2003 02:54 PM

York, and the broads are incredible here. :thumbsup
