Fuck Real Estate Agents

I swear these roaches are worse then lawyers.... Thanks to this real estate lady I basically pissed away 2 weeks trying to rent a nice place near my university. She tells me we are pretty much guaranteed the place, she just needs to run it by the landlord and that she wants us to fill out this rental application to show him,
So we do that, he likes us, and everything on the application checks out (we even have references from a Judge and a Police Inspector) so this guy had to go on business in California for a week and when he got back, we were gonna sign the lease (which was today at around 7pm) so anyways, this lady starts showing other people the house in the last week and locks up some deal with a couple and basically guaranteed the house to them as well, she even told the couple that we were interested and what we were willing to pay, so they offered a bit more and the landlord took it right away... None of this was ever confirmed with us, because we would of had no problem paying more and were very confident if a bidding war had broken out, we would of won. :321GFY

So its back to Square 1, looking for houses again!

bad business ethics eh?

p00p 03-26-2003 12:15 AM

rent? What is that?

ZoiNk 03-26-2003 12:19 AM

Never heard "rent" and "real estate agent" together. If I was to go back to renting, I would call the vacency signs in the area I want to live.

I totally agree!

Im selling a place here in ny, the fuckers get $8,000 - $10,000 commission for placing an ad in the paper and doing virtually nothing.

I don't like em but I've been doing a bunch of graphic design for the fuckers lately. They really like the full page flyers with pics of a property and a snazzy layout, it's pretty easy money and they're usually happy to plop down a couple hundred bucks for a simple color flyer.
I've doing a bunch of work for a particular realtor lately in hopes of getting a good deal on something she's got for sale.

Glad I bought a house 8 years ago and don't have that worry

Waterloo is excellent and tuition is the same as most universities I believe, (around 5000 canadian)

many of them push you... I had this one character trying to pressure me into buying, telling me that there are tons of other buyers ready to turn in offers.

Personally, I think interest rates may go down again as the market cools down. Hopefully, I'd be in the "sweet spot"--low housing prices and low interest reates.

Same sort of shit happened to me with a local real estate agent.

I put a bid in on some property that backed up against an old golf course out in the country.

We went back and forth twice on the price, and then he assured me it was a done deal.

He makes the appointment for me to come sign the papers, and when I get there he tells me the golf course owner (some fucking doctor from Florida) had first right to match any offers made on the property. So he bought it for the exact price that had been agreed upon by me already.

They never told me about this beforehand. So basically the property owner and real estate agent just used me to make this golf course owner get off his ass and purchase the property.

I guess I got used as the measuring stick for what the property was worth.

I ended up buying some property just one country block away, but it wasn't as big or as good a deal.

Fuckers:BangBang:

They are sneaky fuckers. They are worse at auctions.
I bought my house privately.. I paid a bit for it (comparitive to the market) but it was worth it - the commision for the agent would have pushed it to my price anyways.

My mortgage company gave me a reference for the last RE agent I used and he was worthless. I did all the work myself, looking everything up on my own, looking at houses on the outside on my own, etc. The only thing he did for me was have a key to the lockboxes and for that he made quite a pretty penny. The houses HE'D show me weren't anything near what I said I wanted  When I finally found this one on my own, not only was it EXACTLY what I said I wanted, but it was even listed BY HIS OFFICE and he didn't think to show it to me.

But I made sure I told the mortgage company what a crappy experience I had and they took him off their referral list :1orglaugh

I'm in the process of getting my RE license and if I ever become an agent, I hope I learned from being on the other side, lol!
