How much does this effect visibility for the jets?

Probably none.
Since they use satillite imagary and cordinents.

About 8 years ago. I worked for Sony Corp, in Terre Haute, In. We did about 60% of the music biz cds and almost all of the cd-roms biz there too.
They had a contract with the US Defence Dept to make these cd's that were from all over the world on geographical maps. For as building and such. They already have those cordinents and nothing to bomb them. Those cd's we made to program the planes computers to the exact location of were the bombs were to be dropped. I wished, I coulda swipped one back then. But they were watching closely and kept track of every cd that was shipped or scraped.

My guess is. The oil fires maybe used to shield the Republican Gaurd if anything.

If the Iraqis think they are gonna help save their military compounds..they are sorely mistaken.
