Heh, you like that? I think the live death toll feed is supposed to show us how horrible the things we are doing in Iraq are, but I think the comparison is an eye-opener.

If you're trying to rationalize Iraqi civilian deaths to 9/11, that's the dumbest sig I've ever seen.

9/11 gives bush the right to kill iraqi people? nice logic

DamnGoodRatio 03-25-2003 09:22 PM

Who provides the numbers for that? I am having flashbacks of the nightly news telling us the Vietnam war was going great.

Ask your dad if this doesn't make sense (Hint: Southeast Asia was famous for more than school girls).

SpaceAce 03-25-2003 11:55 PM

I am not rationalizing anything. It's simple raw numbers. Take from it what you want.

As to whether or not 9/11 gives Bush the "right" to do anything doesn't matter. I support the current action regardless of the September 11th attacks.

DamnGoodRatio - I am not sure I understand your point. Those numbers are provided, if anything, in an anti-war context. Click the image and see for yourself. The organization providing the live updates is clearly not very supportive of the attacks on Iraq.

so far that's not a lot, really. i mean, that's pretty good numbers for us having been bombing the fuck out of major cities, wouldn't you think?

regardless of it's connections, i'm not going there.

That was sort of my point. The 'monstrous and evil butchers' of the United States have so far managed to carry on a major offensive in densely populated cities with a total civilian casualty count of under 300. It's 300 more than I would like to see but it's food for thought for all these people crabbing about us making war on the Iraqi "people". We're making war on their military and military buildings. I would say 300 civilian casualties is pretty minimal.

Please don't anyone waste your time telling me "If one of the 300 was someone YOU care about... blah blah blah" because I am well aware of that. It doesn't change the fact that the number is astoundingly low for the amount of action going on.
