Remember Epassporte?
Did anything ever happen to that sly Christopher Mallick fellow?
Is it ok to steal money if it's offshore? Interesting business model. I remember the big uproar, but I missed out on if there were ever any repercussions. |
I'm pretty sure he got away with everything
|
E what ?
|
It's sort of a fool proof business method.
If you can stay super anonymous it's even better. Deal in digital currency... now we're talking. Run your biz in Cyprus and live in some random place like Bulgaria? Man you'll be ballin' so hard. |

Never heard of it, nor, did they get a dime from me. </sarcasm>
|
last i heard it was all bulletproof glass and suv escorts somewhere in california..
i think that partner dude from europe was a front guy for some bigger angrier people, and there was talk of winning some judgement blah blah no more movies tho, so that's something |
He did not get away with everything. Some people got their money back, and those that sued also got everything back. I know i did. If i remember, the class action got around 12 or 20M from him.
|
I got all my money back
|
don't remember me that again, what a pain :S
|
Pretty sure anyone with any substantial amount got their's back because they didn't let it go. Not sure why u beating a dead horse.
|
We got all the money in our Virtual Visa back ($45K), but lost about $1500 in our Wallet.

|

I predict the answer will be no. If you won't fight for your cash, who will? |
Quote:
And, am I going to sue for $1500 in a cross-jurisdictional suit? No, of course not - if you think I should you're crazy. $1500? Phtt, it's the cost of doing business, and a lesson learned. I'd NEVER recover what I'd spent, even if I was successful. Pick your battles. |

And class action was done on 10/20/30% basis for people with less sums of money, so, there was still around $1000 you left on the table for basically doing no work, just signing the rights to the lawyer. As i said before, if you dont care, dont expect others to care about your money, but dont come whining then, because that's how it sounds. |
I loved epassport but its was very practical easy to use and fees were ok.Too bad some jerks ruined all

And, at the time, I was not aware of the class action. Had I been, I would have certainly jump on board. And, where did I say that I didn't care? How dare you make the assumption? And, where did I ask for others to care about the money I lost? Jeez. |
Quote:
Yea, and i just told you that if you did not care about it (which you obviously didn't because you could have jumped on the class action in a timespan of about a year or so) noone else will care about it. No more no less. Assumption is very straightforward. People that cared got the money back, those that did not, didn't. There were even less then $1500 claims in the class action. They obviously cared. |

And that is news for many as well: Quote:

I remember pulling out all my money just a few hours before epass closed....that was a blast!

Then again i only had money on the visa card and got it back after contact with that st. kitts bank. So i never really looked into it anymore since i didn't lose any money. |

At the time, there were a) multiple calls for class action immediately after the fiasco b) Multiple threads where people looked to pool together and find a way to make the cost of the suit less. It's when someone found Zahavi. c) Multiple threads asking to join zahavi suit. It's when i got in for example and contacted with several other members d) Multiple threads after that on the progress of the suit where you could still join in on the suit from my understanding while talking with Zahavi e) Shitton of threads later from that guy with Mallick avatar in a thief suit where he pushed the epassporte issue and also, for some reason, tried to belittle the Zahavi lawyer. f) In all of this, there was a thread here and there where someone announced they personally sued and settled with Mallick and got their money. So, i'm sorry, there were at least 50 or so threads about this in a timespan of at least a year, and you "were not aware". Sorry to say, but you did not try at all. Is this the first time you hear the Zahavi name or ZL attorney? EDIT: Ok, checked my documents. ZL represented only 5.3M and got it all back to his clients. The higher figure was some estimates how much was missing. Been a long time and a long forgotten thing for me so numbers got skewed abit. |
