how much longer will this war last?

... I have a strange feeling that this could last for a long, long time.

another two weeks of heavy fighting at the most. then securing country and taking care of any remaining pockets.

i cant see it lasting really long.

I agree with funkmaster..... I think the coalition might get tougher and more pressure than they believed....... I think also Bush said that this might not be as easy as they hoped for!

I was a young lad in '69 during the Vietnam war era
when this song by Zager & Evans zoomed to the top of the
charts when people where asking the same thing about Nam.

These are the lyrics:

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may thrive
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do, and say
Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs got nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube' Whoooa

In the year 7510
If God's a-comin' he ought to make it by then
Maybe he'll look around himself and say
Guess it's time for the Judgement day

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head then
He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again

In the year 9595
I'm kinda wondering if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing

Now it's been 10,000 years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew
Now man's reign is through
But through eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may thrive
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do or say
Is in the pill you took today ....(fading...)

I'm just reading online all the arab jew tensions rising.

Man, I have a bad feeling about that. Don't know what it is, but something just says not right.

Take away the cameras, and this war would be over in about 48 hours.

i bet 3-4 weeks total.

a shift will begin in earnest when humanitarian aid will finally be dispensed to the families of soldiers still fighting.

the humanitarian effort will have as much motivating force as "bunker buster" bombs.

the change will be subtle, but it will increase geometrically as ordinary iraqis see and hear the real story of how coalition forces are treating the people who do not fight.

this morning i saw images of US soldiers handing little kids candy and bottled water---pretty effective PR to the world, and to the parents of these kids.

Good Morning IRAKNAM.

Unfortunately, I think that the war will last a lot longer than anticipated

the worst problem I foresee is civil unrest by the population, making it a hell hole for any occupying force, on either side of the coin, there are not very many 'good' people living there so you have choice between either of two evils

It will last as long as it lasts. No more, no less.

Since it is known that the US & coalition isn't going to stop until the job is completely done, it's really up to the Iraqi soldiers. If they begin giving up in droves it will be over quicker. If not, it will last longer.

Pulling opinions from a crystal ball is useless. It will be what it will be.
