TX School Restricts Parents from Walking Their Kids Home?!

A Texas mom told Fox and Friends this morning that she pulled her two kids from an elementary school that restricted parents from walking their children home from school.

Bear Branch Elementary School, part of the Magnolia ISD, reportedly told parents that they could face a trespassing charge if they walk onto school grounds to pick up their children.

Parents, like Wendy Jarman, say that the policy comes from a new principal who is going too far with her new rules.

Despite living five minutes away, Jarman explained that her two children could no longer make the short walk with her.

Jarman has since switched them to a private school, since it was taking them an hour or more to get from the school to their house.

"It just wasn't a good situation for my kids," she said, explaining that officials cite safety as the reason for the new policy.

The school district, in a statement, said no parents are being arrested for coming onto the campus to pick up children.

The district said the "handful" of parents who want to walk their children home must wait until all cars and buses depart.

Jarman said parents have indeed been threatened with arrest by officers enforcing the policy.

It's trumps fault!

Parents (those who drive) are complete assholes when it comes to picking up their kids from school at dismissal time.

I don't blame the principal for putting the policy in place - if it's in the interest of child safety.

It's Texas, and it's only going to get worse.

fuck you if I can't walk on to the campus to pick up MY kid. I don't expect this policy to last very long.

Wait until a kid gets hit by a car driven by a parent due to all the traffic congestion around the school grounds.

After watching that broad on the Fox news video - the only impression I was left with was she was an entitled breeder with her own interests in mind. Your kid has to ride a school bus (with no air-conditioning, OMG!) for an hour?! Boo-fucking-hoo. I rode a school bus in a rural area for 1.5hrs each direction...for 8 years. No AC - we put the windows down (what a novel idea).

walking is exercise

money over safety of the children. probably a tactic to keep getting federal money for the buses. :disgust

This is about the School Grounds, not walking kids home.

Obviously because of Texas, more guns is the solution.

It's probably to keep somebody from cut n pasting on the children.

fuck these spoiled ass kids! When I was a kid I had to walk 20 miles to school by myself up hill both ways in 2 foot of snow. It was dark when I left for school and dark when I got home from school..

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh I use to love hearing grandpa tell that story..

But on topic it's BS that parents can't walk their kids home from school

I laugh and smile when I hear that - 'cuz prior to my years on the school bus...I really did have to walk about 5 miles each way to and from school - and up and down a bigass, steep hill both directions. Obviously we weren't barefoot, lol - but I remember our snow pants were typically soaked and coated in snow by the time we got to school or back home.

So many people claim it - I remember it...back in the early 70s.
