http://www.dealsdepot.com/Shop/Contr...id/0/SFV/14930

1880 x 1440 @ 85Hz
you cant get that from any tft out there

1800fp runs 1280x1024 @ 75Hz

TFT are flicker free, refresh rate isn't issue with them...

I use laptop with 1400x1050 native res.

Is the 2000FP as good? It's 1600x1200 but I've never seen one in person.

In terms of picture quality for the money, I think CRT still wins hands down...at the high end, both CRT and LCD offer great picture quality, but LCD costs a ton more. That said, I love my Sony LCD. If you're not checking them out in person, I'd stick to name brand, not-too-cheap LCDs...Sony, Dell, Apple, Mitsubishi, NEC.

Minor drawbacks to LCD are a slower refresh/ghosting, mostly a factor in high-frame-rate 3D gaming, and slight color differences depending on viewing angle (with a good LCD, this is so minor it only applies to graphic designers trying to very precise color callibration...and even then, you just learn to keep your eyes centered in the same place on the screen). Also, LCDs often lack as wide a range of brightness control, though this is a poor design decision rather than an inherent limitation...you could theoretically use an entirely software-based brightness control, though I haven't seen one for Windows.

Minor drawbacks to CRTs are more desk space (obviously), the weight (21" CRTs are HEAVY), greater power consumption/heat production, and screen flicker (worst if you're in a room with fluorescent lights).

I could be wrong on the refresh/ghosting issue with newer LCDs, I don't run apps like that enough to notice.

If you're into FPS gaming like Half-Life, CS, Quake etc. LCD's are useless at the moment.

For work they are excellent.

That's not true.. The latest generation of LCDs have a 16ms response time, which means they no longer blur at high frame rates.. The older ones were 35ms or higher..

Cheers,
Backov
