I think nobody need UN any longer - you can do whatever you want - if you have a power like USA for example.

Appointing Iraq to the Committee On Disarmament.

Watching Iraq dick around for 16 Resolutions over the course of 12 years and not doing a single thing.

Who in their right mind could take that group seriously after just those three things?

UN has been worthless for a long time. If they were doing their job for the last 12 years, we wouldn't be at war right now.

The UN is active in more then this one fucking example... rebuild contries, economic, humanitarian orginasitions, etc..

Actually the UN was intended to be mainly concerned with wars. Read the preamble of the UN charter...

Time to do a little fact-finding of your own I would say. Do a little reading and tell me that the UN hasn't become utterly useless oaver the last decade or so.

Why do people think the UN is only involved in making this kind of decisions? The UN does much more then that but that just doesn't hit the media. I for one agree that sadam must go, he is a danger to many people, if he can't go in peace then burn his ass out BUT that doesn't mean the UN is useless... for god's sake, stop thinking that over this war the US is the only thing in the world right now. The UN SHOULDhave agreed or put up a greater effort to not let it come to this BUT i still think the UN very much needed in this world where people die because they don't have anything to eat.

Anyways, the UN does serve a purpose. The UN brings relief and medication to the third world. They assist in rebuilding efforts, etc. But, let's be perfectly honest. They've never been an effective peace keeping entity. Does the Congo, Rwanda, Kosovo, Sri Lanka, Cote D'Ivorie, etc. mean anything to you?

They made themselves irrelevant.

To be fair A&H, the UN may be useless when it comes to many things. They have no problem disarming civilian populations, but when it comes to a menace like Saddam, that's another story.

But, they do serve a purpose when it comes to disaster relief, bringing medication to the third world, rebuilding communities, etc. That's what they're good at, and that's what they're roll should be limited to.
