Pizza Hut asked for my CVV2

I've never had a non-adult transaction ask me for that. I wonder if they get a lot of chargebacks?

They ask me every time I call to order a delivery. I think it started within the last couple of months.

It's surprising because I wouldn't think they need it, especially since they require an imprint + signature when they actually get here to give me the pizza, so why they need CVV2?

Not that I really care, just thought it was a bit excessive.

hmm.. well.. at least its better than those war threads.

Their employees have found out that they are not able to use your credit card information for online porn without also having that number.

:1orglaugh While you're at it, make sure you uncheck the BOX saying "Yes, I'd like to sign up for a TRIAL burger sample from Burger King -- and will pay $5.25 for more burgers after three days unless I cancel"

Ha ha....good one.

ronaldo 03-24-2003 10:18 AM

Good question. I phoned my CC company to get an answer in case my pizza place ever asks for it.

They DO NOT NEED this information to process your purchase. They MAY be doing it to protect themselves from cloned cards. That's the only LEGAL reason he could think of think of that they might be asking for it.

When asked whether or not HE as a CC employee would give it out, he said no.

He said this would be "close to" giving out your pin #.

Ron2k1 03-24-2003 10:24 AM

Does any kind of creditcard have a cvv2 number?

And why are 7 digits printed in the back of my mastercard if the cvv2 is only the last 3 digits?

weird stuff

BRISK 03-24-2003 10:25 AM

Yeah, I'd like to know why they asked for it.

I'm not too worried since it's highly unlikely that Pizza Hut is pulling any carding scams.

Next time I phone them I'm gonna ask why they ask for it.

ronaldo 03-24-2003 10:29 AM

What pizza place was it?

Pizza Hut

Yes Brisk, I went back and saw it on the header, thanks.

I'm a curious kind of guy, so I phoned Pizza Hut Canada. They redirected me to the people in charge of the franchisees.

The lady was um, surprised? shall we say, that they asked you for this. She said there was NO WAY that she would give out this information either.

She suggested that you call them immediately and inquire as to why they required this. Then you should ask for the franchiser phone number.

Call the franchiser and ask if this was an appropriate request.

It's not according to the Pizza Hut representative I spoke to.

chupacabra 03-24-2003 01:10 PM

please give us your creditcard number and CVV2 so we can understand this situation better before we render judgement..

BRISK 03-24-2003 01:13 PM

hmmm...now I'm worried, but gothweb said they always ask him for it too, and he's in the UK, I'm in Australia.

I'm curious as to why they would ask for it too

detoxed 03-24-2003 01:18 PM

Its fraud protection dumbasses.

Around here places just require CC # and expiration date, they dont ask for the card when they deliver the pizza, they just make you sign. You can buy someones credit card info for $2 on some websites. $2 and you can order $40 worth of pizza.

Have it delivered next door and meet the pizza guy at the car.... no wonder they ask for cvv2, so people cant rip them off anymore.

jake2000xp 03-24-2003 01:40 PM

How was the pizza?

Well, it's Pizza Hut. Their pizza tastes the same in every country, like McDonald's.

I got the super supreme and some chicken wings.
