History is interesting.

Absolutely true. History can be twisted around by politicians but there are too many people giving the right twist back. There is a reason why no government secret is published for at least 50 years. We would be amazed what kind of shit has been done.

History is interesting however soundbites can distort the really interesting and fascinating parts of world history.

It would be an understatement to say the world is complex.

Not that i blindly support the US - but there are some valid explanations for our policies.

(and in hindsight - some of our policies were mistakes - which is unfortunate - but understandable)

I especially love how the list is littered with things like this:

"1963-1975: American military kills 4 million civilians in Southeast Asia"

Lots of details, plenty to back it up. I also love how he uses words like "civilians" and "Southeast Asia" instead of things like "combatants" and "Vietnam". A civilian with a gun and an eye to put bullets in you is fair game. Mind you, we should never have been there in the first place, but let's not pretend the US flew over Asia dropping nuclear weapons on sleeping babies.

As a matter of fact, we haven't. It has never been a military policy to bomb innocents for the sake of bombing innocents. There is no percentage in it, it accomplishes nothing. If you know anything about Vietnam, for example, you know that those "sleeping babies" occasionally had grenades wrapped in their blankets.

If you are referring to WWII and the use of nuclear weapons, it takes a supreme ignorance of history to believe that those acts fall under the "bombing sleeping babies" heading. There is basically no credible argument that those bombs cost more lives than they saved. Japan was recruiting farmers to stand on the shorelines and repel Allied troops with pitchforks. The casualties would have easily reached into the millions, not including further loss of American and Allied lives.

As for "true/false" solution, sorry it isn't a true/false world. Did America kill 500,000 of its own citizens in the late 1800's? Yes. Did those deaths also lead to the downfall of slavery and the reunification of the most economically and militarily powerful nation the world has ever seen? Yes. It's a world of grey areas and "Just tell me yes or no!" is self-serving bullshit.
