King's Quest Vs. Police Quest Vs. Space Quest vs. Leisure Suit Larry

Well?

For me the choice was Police Quest. I think I must have played PQ2 a hundred million hours on the Atari 520st.

Remember how with each successive game in the series you'd be like "DAMN how many fucking disks does this thing take?"

Remember banging the hooker without a rubber in Leisure Suit Larry 1?

Or trying to enter in the crazy trivia game to prove your were 18 or older?

Dirty F 03-24-2003 01:33 AM

The best are lsl3, hero's quest I (quest for glory), and (non sierra) Monkey Island I

KingK7 03-24-2003 03:00 AM

Damn those games were great...
My favorites are Police Quest II, Kings Quest III, Monkey Island I & II, Space Quest I, II & III.
Also Indiana Jones III was great.
God knows how many hours I spent on those games, lol.

Danielle 03-24-2003 03:04 AM

Guess I am going to show my age.... I loved them all! In fact I am building a computer just to put DOS on so I can play them again!

Dug out an old 486 SX and hoping it is slow enough to play them.:)

Hugs,
Danielle

monkey island 1 was amazing, i can still remember all the swordfighting comebacks :-)

and ive got a little tip for you - get the point? :-D

those were the days *sigh*

"woof-woof-aroof!"

StacyCat 03-24-2003 03:52 AM

I played space quest, and leisure suit larry. Never got into the Police Quest games. Kings quest, eh, it was ok.

They came out with Leisure Suit Larry' Ultimate Pleasure Pack, with all the games! Im waiting patiently for the pack with all the sierra games in it!

And, I kept an old 286 computer around for a while until the battery ran out, specifically to play the sierra games that I had stored on it :-)

Arty 03-24-2003 04:23 AM

Lovely thread :)

Well, I've played them all, Hero's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Kings Quest, Gold Rush and of course Larry ... All were just great !

Don't forget Maniac Mansion & Zak Mc Cracken and Original Monkey Island from Lucasfilm games.. :thumbsup

I've still remember how I fell off the chair when I've heard the Space Quest theme from my ROLAND LAPC-1 sound card for the first time. It was just the beeps before...:)

Played em all but loved police quest the most.
Great games.

Validus 03-24-2003 04:30 AM

Monkey Island I & II Baby...

Zack McKracken... Maniac Mansion.... Day of the Tentacle...

Those are the pimp'n oldies...

Sarah_Jayne 03-24-2003 04:43 AM

I never played Leisure Suit Larry . I kept trying to sneak it into the house as a kid but it never worked. Would still like to just to say I finally did.

Monkey Island kicked butt..I can remember wasting away a couple blizards playing that and racking up a bit of a bill on their tip line.

Loom was slightly addictive too.

I remember playing LSL1 in college... kept hoping there was some hardcore payoff in the game to justify me geeking out playing it. Never happened... haha.

Blizzards and those classic games go hand-in-hand. Such fun memories of being snowed in with nothing to do that afternoon but play a game that actually made you think instead of twitch :)

Validus 03-24-2003 06:41 AM

Loom... I totally forgot... aaahhh yea, What a great game. I played that ages ago... on a 286. Long long ago.

Socks 03-24-2003 07:40 AM

Those games are what got me into computers, when my parents bought a Commodore Amiga.. What a move. :)

For everyone's pleasure.... You can download most of these games freely now.. After the game stops being sold, and a certain number of years pass, the games become freeware.

Jakke PNG 03-24-2003 07:45 AM

Monkey island = best ever. :)

I did play spacequest and larry's too.. they were fun. :)

I fucking LOVED monkey island. I remember how good the midi sounds were after PC-beeper sounds, I think it was the first game I had with real music. I actually have the themesong of monkey island as my cellphone ring melody. :1orglaugh

cluck 03-24-2003 07:47 AM

LOOM was the most addictive fucking game ever. I think as far as fun factor King's Quest IV was my favorite. Of course we can't forget Zork. All the ID software games were cool too. The first time I played Wolfenstein I nearly shat myself.

Leisure Suit Larry... :Graucho I remember it being the disk I kept with my JPG's and my Anarchist Cookbook :winkwink:

Sarah_Jayne 03-24-2003 08:23 AM

Loom tormented me for years. Not because of the game play but for my lack of ability to play the game. Remember how all those games came with code breakers you needed inorder to gain access to the game ? Well my little sister opened the box and lost the Loom decoder before I had a chance to play. So for years I could just look at the disks. Eventually I found a friend that also had it and bribed them to let me borrow their decoder.

adamneve 03-24-2003 08:28 AM

Leisure Suit Larry Rocked:thumbsup

Validus 03-24-2003 08:30 AM

PEOPLE... PEOPLE... we are forgetting Indiana Jones.... the first 2 games..

LadyMischief 03-24-2003 08:31 AM

Lesure Suit Larry was the bomb. I used to play a fair amount of Zorkk too. And wolfenstein! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

yeah, they will never know the good old days when we tried to get balding characters laid.

G Sharp 03-24-2003 08:52 AM

This brings back so many memories.

Building an AT machine for around $1000 [LOL -- now you can get a P4 2.4Ghz machine at that price...plus some goodies]

Playing KQ on a CGA monitor. EGA was the "hottest" must get monitor at that time.

My Loom book didn't even have the decoder stuff printed on the inside. I had to send away for a new one. After that came though IT WAS ON!

Hansm 03-24-2003 09:32 AM

im still searching for the last version of police quest.

Sarah_Jayne 03-24-2003 09:43 AM

so I need emulators to play those games on that site. Any recomendations?

Hansm 03-24-2003 09:48 AM

you dont need a emulator for larry and kings quest and police quest.

i did play them on my AT a long time ago.

Sarah_Jayne 03-24-2003 09:55 AM

the versions on that website are .adf files. What do I need to use them? Sorry for being so clueless on these things.
