This is not new. If you read the papers, you'll see that the price of a barrell of oil hasn't really been fluctuating much. They just aren't willing to give back any of the gains they've made in raising prices.

The nationwide trend this week showed a drop in gas prices. The drop was not due to the decrease in crude oil prices but rather due to a 20% drop in wholesale gas prices over the last 10 days.

U.S. light, sweet crude oil contracts for April delivery, which expired yesterday, fell to $28.61 per barrel, nearly $10 lower than highs reached earlier this month. Most experts are now focused on May contract prices, which fell to $28.12 a barrel yesterday
