of al jazeera with the US soldiers killed. What's your opinion on this?

The US media is propaganda!

As long as they all decided independently to do that, that's fine with me. They are not hiding unpleasant facts (planes downed or missing, a traitorous attack by a soldier against officers, etc.), so I see no conspiracy anywhere.

I don't think they should show any pictures of dead bodies on U.S. News.

I was watching I think it was BBC the other day and they showed adead iraq soldiers and civilians. I think it's going to far and very unrespectful to show them on t.v.

I was shocked, I cannot remember when I have EVER seen a real dead body on t.v.

No, I'm not squeamish. I visit ogrish and rotten.com but this still shocked me :( I however make the choice to visit these sites. On t.v it is thrown in your face when you least expect it.

I think they made a good choice. Imagine if you saw the dead body of someone you know or are related to! This is just disgusting.

But the critics will argue that the media is censoring the news, and will accuse the US of selective propaganda. The critics will use any argument against the US no matter how stupid, idiotic, moronic or unfair it is.
The critics can be assholes sometimes.

Having in mind many kids watch news I wouldn't like this video to play on any media. I don't think the killed soldiers were hostages. The iraqish can use hostages in many ways, no reason to kill them.

I see a video now with american soldiers that are hostages and they speak. One of them is from Texas. He is scared. A woman also from Texas,africamerican woman scared. One more from New Jersey. A thin guy from Kansas and others.

I would like to see these people get back to their families. I do honestly believe many of them really do not justify this war. That is what they say to the journalists and although they are scared, I feel they believe what they say. This is a fucked up situation while you guys are safe at your homes posting bombs them all day and night with a beer in your hands. :321GFY

The networks have to bear in mind children watch TV too.

One military official expressed the opinion, though, that TV should show how captured US soldiers are treated and then compare that with how the US treats its prisoners, and then they would know why we are at war.

Don't worry our kids in the states don't need to see that footage 24-7 and it will show up on the internet somewhere....probablly already is!

The US has several different news media,

so far i watch mainly three,, CNN, MSNBC, FOXNEWS


i can tell you that all three would not be in cohoots to what they are wanting to show,

its each producers choice of wheather they choose to show it or not,

they wouldn't even show the IRAQI-TV of the dead and wounded civilians

the news can show whatever they want, Rumsfield can't tell them not to do shit,

i remember watching the first day with the helicopter crash i heard so many different versions

so basically i make my own conculsions from watching different sources and not one source can make me think its a fact

The US Media never shows real dead bodies on purpose. This is not a new thing because of the war.

Oh, I see, it was my comment about how we actually care about what our children see. Well, I think there is a difference between showing and teaching reality (i.e. war and bombings) and showing gore and blood. I really do think there is a difference and it is possible to show reality without the gore. That's all.

Showing the reality of war without showing blood and gore is like showing the ocean without showing water.

Hmm you know when a gang throws Molotov cocktails into my neighboorhood cafe the corpses run outside and make a mess? You know when someone puts a bomb at my neighbor's apartment door the bodies get blown out the windows and make a mess? You know there's a corpse on a dark street drivers don't see him and they make a mess? You know when a sniper rifle hits the head of a commercial director his head explodes and it makes a mess on people's clean clothes? You know when terrorists put a C4 bomb in my friend's neighbors building and the building collapses into a pile 8 feet high it makes a mess? You know when a local gets pissed with the militias and he decides to blow up their checkpoint there are bloodstains in the snow for 30 meteres? You know when a neighbor takes the wrong suitcase to work and the ball bearings embedded in simtex leave no body only little strips of him hanging in the poplar trees that is really messy? Perhaps YOU can relate at least to Ground 0, although most corpses were pulverized into powder and apparently powdered corpses don't require editing.

A person should at least be capable of contending with the world outside his doorstep. The fodder you watch is made safe for 6 year olds who relate to images more than storylines.

Australian media has been showing everything since 5AM, a part from the corpses. Showing them interviewing the EPOW's and asking them questions... we even saw the Iraqi equivalent of their media conference.

They are stating pretty much opposite to what we're hearing from the US. Even the Australian and English reporters in the US are telling us different from what we hear from ABC, NBC and CBS.

US media MAY BE propaganda, but at least a little bit, it's needed.
The US, at least in some part, needs to keep up support for the war.
Protesting it until it starts is fine. Patriotic as you'd like. But, after it starts, mass protesting and the like really do no good. They just cause trouble back home. And kill support for our troops.

All the more reason that, now that they're there, they need our support. Protesting at this point is near to worthless.
