Way to ignore the Geneva convention..
again.. Iraq TV parading US soldiers on TV just now.. one seemed to be injured and still they were 'interviewing' him..
:321GFY :ak47: :BangBang: |
link?
|
It was shown on sky tv..
Now they say there is also 1 female captive.. she's in for a bad time.. |
Both sides are guilty of breaking Geneva Convention rules which were not written for todays wars.
|
My best wishes to the friends and families of those soldiers.. man they're going to have a terrible time I'm sure. Hopefully it all turns out okay.
|
The Red Cross are there in Iraq and have already been given access to the POW`S, The Iraq government has gaureented they will be governened by the Geneva convention...
more then wat appears to have happened to now over 8,000 missing iraqi POW`s who America seems to have massacred....the Red Cross have demanded an explanation from America to the whereabouts of these missing pow`s!http://www.antiwar.com/comment/pows.html |

During a Pentagon briefing they explained that they were exaggerating a bit. As for the Geneva Convention, is this similar or not similar to the way WE violate it in Guantanamo? If different, why? |

"On Saturday, U.S. officials had said they had won control of the strategic town, Iraq's only deep-water port and a crucial part of U.S. and British plans to begin bringing in humanitarian aid to show they are serious about helping ordinary Iraqis." Today: U.S. Fights on to Secure Iraqi Port of Umm Qasr Sun March 23, 2003 11:01 AM ET UMM QASR, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. forces used planes and tanks on Sunday in a battle to dislodge Iraqi fighters from the southern port town of Umm Qasr, where at least 120 Iraqi Republican Guards were reported to be dug in. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=2431604 BTW, on RDI ( Canada ) they show also pictures of US casualties ( not a pretty picture and I mourn for the families of these kids ) that CNN or other US News ( ABC,MSNBC,FOX,CBS and so on) don't show. The point: misinformation, propaganda from both sides . |
The american government claim that the Geneva convention does not apply in Guantanamo because they never actually declared war on afghanistan.
Iraq has in fact been closely working with the Red Cross and from a publicity point of view want to appear to be following the convention.... in so far as the missing 8,000 iraq pow`s, the Red Cross is not buying the propoganda line and is demanding a United Nations investigation into what they feel has been a massacre of these prisoners. The Red Cross is a highly respected organization. |
I'm dubious that 8,ooo POW's would be killed, a few hundred here and there perhaps but 8,ooo is a lotta bodies to hide.
I suspect they were never captured in the first place. |

Secondly, you started this threat more than implying that the Iraqui were not respecting Geneva convention: Quote:
So read on: The bodies and prisoners were shown on Iraqi television, relayed by Al-Jazeera, which said the dead and wounded came from a battle near the southern Iraqi city of Nassiriya, where U.S. Marines are fighting for control. The first prisoner shown gave his name as Miller and said he was from Kansas. Asked why he had come to Iraq he replied: "Because I was told to come here. I was just under orders. I was told to shoot -- only if I'm shot at. I don't want to kill anybody." http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=2431577 That is called news reporting, not abuse. The US does it daily, and since you gbrought it up the Israeli TV does it also. |

I compare apples to apples - claiming the US killed 8000 POW's is as pathetic as denying the holocaust. Second: I did not imply that iraq is contravening the geneva convention, I stated it as a fact because they are, exactly like they did in the last gulf war. This is not news reporting, this is against the geneva convention.. http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/92.htm |
Put all the anti war protesters in front of this video tape so they understand why the fuck we are there in the first place.
Those mutherfuckers are gonna get it now. |
Okay, I might be way off here, but haven't we seen Iraqi POW's on CNN and Fox News over the past days as well? Granted they haven't interviewed them on TV, but they are still being "paraded" for propaganda purposes. Isn't this the same thing, just too a lesser extent?
Another thing that is giving me the shits is the way the media is treating various sources of news. Anything from the Pentagon or "Centcom" is gospel, but anything coming from Iraqi TV or Aljezira (sp?) is automaticly 'Iraqi Propaganda'. I really wish there was a news source that really was "Fair and Balanced" and not just a mouthpeice for the Whitehouse. Dont take this as an Anti-American Anti-war post, cos its not. I just want the facts. I mean, if Fox News reports that Saddam is dead, my guess is alot of people here would consider it the truth. I wonder if they would think the same if E.D. Hill jumped on and reported "IM CONVERTING TGP TRAFFIC at 1:3!!". Most of you would be skeptical. The rest would just call her a Tranny :1orglaugh . Im tired and will regret this post when I wake up :( |

Under the Geneva convention, it is a war Crime to interfere with the water, electricity or sewerage of a country during war, yet America openly admits to bombing the water, sewerage and electricity instalations of Iraq.
|
Are some of you REALLY stupid enough to believe that we should expect fucking Saddam Hussein to follow international laws we've decided we don't need to follow ourselves?
This thread is hilarious! :1orglaugh |
