Why would someone stop allowing reviews of their site?

There's a website I REALLY want to review. I think it would definitely sell on my site. I've had one surfer email me and ask for more of a specific niche, so I emailed one of the company's sites they wanted to see reviews of and they said they aren't allowing reviews anymore of it.

The big guys already have reviewed it. So I'm wondering, what do they have to lose by having what I think is going to be yet another promising review of their site online?

Oh well. :) Their loss, right?

blogspot 02-25-2016 06:26 PM

Do you have to tell a company you are doing a review of them I don't see why if you are sending traffick that way

MiamiBoyz 02-25-2016 08:28 PM

Something to hide perhaps? Like the truth?

ruff 02-25-2016 08:44 PM

Fuck em and review the site, you don't need their permission. You're an affiliate, go do business and don't waste your time worrying about their stupid attitude. Make your money.

HowlingWulf 02-26-2016 07:54 AM

They can't stop you from doing a review.

CurrentlySober 02-26-2016 08:03 AM

Sounds more like they dont want to give you a user/pass for free.

If you really think the site would sell, just join up as a regular joe, review and put your affiliate links up...

You should make the join fee back if they are any good so why worry?

that was my thought too

Screwed Up 02-26-2016 09:03 AM

Because they don't want to give a free pass to yet another review site?
Because they don't update anymore?
Because other review sites bashed their sites?
Because only the top 5 review sites send any significant sales anyway?
Because of a combination of all the above?
etc.

rabbit 02-26-2016 09:16 AM

some content producers just cant handle any criticism... they got reviewed, didnt like the review 100% and realized what being reviewed means and stopped accepting any more reviews.

OldJeff 02-26-2016 10:58 AM

Because review site traffic "generally" is not worth the price paid for it.

Correctamundo :thumbsup

Most review sites are nothing m,ore than affiliate sites and they push the sites that make them the most money, additionally if you have a niche site the odds that whomever reviews your site will understand your niche are slim and none resulting in an inaccurate review.

Im with others here...if you own a review site and think a site will make you money join it and review it honestly and post your links.....

What would you think of the integrity of a restaurant reviewer who got free meals at all the eateries he/she reviews? Not much I'm guessing.

TheSquealer 02-26-2016 11:16 AM

shitty business people running a shitty business aren't interested in honest assessments of their business.

Colmike9 02-26-2016 11:23 AM

Work more on "Oh shit! You need to buy this NOW!" more than "Here's why you should take my word on this.".. :2 cents:

They probably either had bad reviews in the past and/or bad or non-updated members area. Either that or people are writing "reviews" and are causing chargebacks because of inaccurate info.

If you have a review site that you really want to push a sponsor that won't let you, just have an "Other related sites you might like" on the page. If you really want more sales from them, make the promo and call to action look better than the reviewed site. ;)
Or just related niche sidebar ads, those get clicked on pretty decently for the most part.

unlike sensational 'journalism' with rumors posted as news just to drive ad revenue?

Definitely would but they won't even approve me as an affiliate. :(

I will pay a monthly fee to review their site IF it really came down to it.

Signups are closed. I've personally asked.

Other review sites love it.

The top 5 might only matter, yes, but I am gaining ranks on reviews significantly. I guess they'll come to me when they're ready.

I just don't understand. They've spent more time talking to me than it would have taken for me to get a pass, login and start the review.

Exactly, again though, it's too bad they aren't allowing signups. :(

I guess getting hung up on this one review should be the least of my concerns. Just a little irritating though.

The only "issue" I sometimes have with review sites is putting a link back to the review. If you have 20 reviews all those link backs can get a little messy (and confusing).

Otherwise, I say go for it. And this is coming from someone who sometimes gets a 2 out of 10 rating. LOL

EDIT: If they are an "invite only" Program and they don't want you take it VERY personally - but move on. LOL You will make up in sales from 3 other Programs that you review anyway. It's just a numbers game so focus on that.

TheSquealer 02-26-2016 03:48 PM

if you run any business and are scared of reviews of your product or service, then you're admitting that your product or service sucks.

"Do you want me to tell the world about your product or service???"

.... "fuck no!"

that only makes sense to a lunatic who is destined to fail.

Thanks porn nerd.

And I'm sure their product is good. Stumped.

Why anyone would turn down a reviewer, i'll never know. It doesn't matter if you get a bad review...we got sales even from bad reviews.
Besides...bad reviews are WAY helpful to improve our products....really i don't understand.

And by the way....if you want to review our sites at Feet4Cash, join our program and drop me an email ;)

Terrible analogy. Do you think the folks at Rabbits and TBP are just after a free wank? Lol

I work with all the review sites closely and over the years have read almost every one. For the most part they are all done with care and integrity. As for them being an affiliate what other model should they be? Ad based? Do you think that would work?

Thanks for hitting me up Todd.

I rank reviews based on my ability to use them, if they update and if they're new, will they be updating based on current trends. A lot of sites have been given good scores, but as soon as they drop their updates, they're given much lower scores.

My apologies! I have a new system in place now. Upcoming Reviews - My Porn Opinion shows the reviews coming up and the order.

Would you like me to schedule them in order?

Thank you.
