I have a quick PHP/MySQL project available for those looking for a bit of work

If you know PHP and MySQL, and you're looking for a small project to earn a bit of cash, then keep reading. :)

What I need to have built is very similar to what this guy writes about: http://www.devshed.com/Server_Side/P...ing/page1.html

So basically, I need the following:

1. An online administration interface so that I can easily enter new data, and edit or delete existing data in the database (MySQL).

2. A PHP script that connects to the database, retrieves the most recent set of records, and formats them for display on the web page. Each page should list 30 records. So page 1 would be the 30 most recent, and clicking on "next page" would display the next 30 most recent, and so on...

What needs to be done is almost exactly like in that URL I provided. That article even provides all the code he used, so this should be fairly easy to cut and paste a lot of the code he used. He started from scratch and it took him about 4 hours to complete, so I would hope that it wouldn't take someone else any longer than that to make almost the same thing. Most of the time would probably be spent chatting with me about the specifics of what is needed.

I prefer to pay via PayPal, but could work something else out if you would like. :glugglug

I like to communicate by ICQ, MSN Messenger, or Email.

I'm looking to get this done sometime in the next 2 weeks.

So, if you're interested in doing this, and you know what you're doing when it comes to PHP and MySQL (not just pretending to know :winkwink: ), then post your thoughts on this here (in this thread) and include your email or ICQ. You get extra bonus points if you can provide URLs to examples of work you've done before. :thumbsup

Thanks for the replies so far from you guys.

I'm going to let this thread run a bit longer before I start contacting people, I'm not in a huge rush to get this done.

:thumbsup :glugglug :thumbsup

PHP/MySQL is my forte.

MonkeyMan 03-23-2003 12:21 AM

I will type some gibberish that looks like PHP code for 5$

!!!!!!!Free Sample!!!!!!

Code:

<?pHRP

if ce =1 (1 != .04) {

VOID(MAIN) }
echo 5;

function basic(){
55 INPUT NAME , $A
56 PRINT $A
77 PAUSE 244
89 GOTO 55
100 END }

?>

I would do better but IM drunk.

brisk, this is one type of application that practically everyone has done as open source and free. you really just need to choose the one you like best. there are lots of these.

it may be better to go with one that's already been tested at length, and stable.

Anyone else interested?

I need a few custom tweaks though.

I'm not posting news stories.

If you say what tweaks you need, I might have something you can use - for free even. I made a number of things like this in the past few years for several sites.

If I can find it (which is questionable), I also have jokes.php somewhere, which is something like this but with very strong security and the option to write the list to a static file after each update instead of displaying it dynamically, which preserves system resources. If I find it, you can have it for free.

The tweaks I'll need are mostly in the way it displays the records on the resulting webpage.

I want all the records to be in a table and every record to be displayed in its own row with columns for "description", "file size", "date entered"

and the description should link to the file

You could do it in less time?

2 hours:

everything coded from scratch
high security
multiple templates
option for static pages
search function
multiple admin levels with different permissions (add/edit/delete/add admin)
other stuff

15 minutes:

a very basic version

What do you mean by "high security"? A password protected admin area?

That would be normal security.
High security means encrypting the passwords, doing some monitoring on usage of pw/un combos, logging failed login attempts and blocking brute force cracking attempts.

Cool. Although I think normal security would be fine in this situation.

Well, normal security is what gets most sites hacked. :2 cents:

True.

So are you interested in creating this?

No, sorry. Too many projects, too little time. :(

I searched on my computers for the thing I talked about, but unfortunately couldn't find it.

There are a lot of capable programmers here though, so I'm sure one of them can do it. Also, chances are that whatever you need can be found out hotscripts.com. Good luck!

Why 03-23-2003 05:57 AM

icq me, i might have something similiar around, that i can retro-fit for your needs.

keyDet79 03-23-2003 08:15 AM

I can code it from scratch in 1 day, icq me.
