Why do
 

...people that have suffered a tragedy, a loss of a loved one, etc. submit themselves for interviews (intrusive questions) by the media. I.E. "How do you feel knowing that your son was killed by a direct hit from an RPG?"

Helps to face the truth I guess

2 reasons

1, even in tragedy they are desperately seeking their 15 minutes of fame

2, News crews show up, jam cameras in thier faces and put them on the spot with stupid questions

Yeah, heard it too ... Very sad ... Really don't know the answer.

i think in a moment of weakness a good reporter should be able to ask uncomfortable questions and get people to talk

for sympathy and movie rights

This is tabloid reporting. Respect the family, sell one less story...
