Don't know which branch, though. Been thinking of Air Force or Navy (best options for education).

My point is if she was going to dump you for doing something you wanted to do wtf are you doing staying with her? She could have been bluffing and if so she would have changed her tune if you told her to get fucked as soon as she said it.

As with all relationships, it's a lot more complicated than that.

oh you'll see parts of it alright.... but probably not the parts you wanna see, and some of them for alot longer than you probly wanna see them.

And that is exactly WHY relationships don't last anymore. The allllllll ME syndrome. 2 yrs makes it a more than casual relationship. A serious one in fact which the other person DOES have a say in what the one does.

Don't get caught up in the allll me thing so early in life. Trust me, it ends up s*cking later on. I lucked out and found someone that basically ignored the BS that I did while pursuing the 'me' thing. I have quite a few GF's that didn't luck out to find someone. So they go home to empty apartments to a tv dinner and maybe a cat or small dog for company. Might sound like its not so bad eh? Try it for a few years straight. (Your family slowly pqsses away, your brothers or sisters etc if you have them move on) And then its Y.O.U. for the company. BTW, constant dating around and going to bars gets pretty boring after you get a certain age as well. lol

Being alone later in life would really be a bite. It takes more than friends to make a life for most people. Don't you believe the hab-draggle kids that pop in here with their grandiose ideas on life that marriage or permenent relationships aren't needed etc etc. Theres nothing like waking on a cold morning to smell fresh coffee or being able to cuddle up to get warm before facing the day. A part time GF or BF just doesn't cut that... oh and the older ya get, the LESS you have all those part time relationships. :winkwink:

So sit your butt down and talk it over with her. LISTEN to what she says. And listen to what Amp said as well. Travel? HA. HA. We know quite a few people that were promised the World and not ONE of them got what was on their 'contracts'. NONE.

One guy, Navy, ships mechanic, spent TWO years in ICELAND... up a river (seriously) NOT on a ocean or sea... he lived at an old airforce base. But he did work on a ships engine. The SAME engine. day after day. It was bolted to a hanger floor. Took it apart and put it together over and over and over and... :1orglaugh

Go to work as a security guard on a cruise line.

i went to military airforce school from the age of 15. After finished it i went to the 10th wing (airforce wing belgian and US). Did some time on the good old marchetti, then alpha jet and then got out because of medical reasons. Then went to civilian flight school and got a seat into an airliner. I can tell you this: whenever i pitch the nose up i wish i was still doing it in an army jet. Regardless of what your g/f says if you wanna do it, DO IT, it's worth it. If she really loves you (what the hell is love???) then she'll stick with you, it's your life and your dreams man, go for it, you only get ONE chanse!

Naw, I already tried to wax shamanistic once, man. Did'nt work. Just ended up with a 3 year permatrip and a fear of all white rooms. That was, of course, before the zoloft.

Seriously, though, this has been heavily on my mind. Like, for some reason, I don't feel like I'm a 'man' unless I help out instead of doing nothing.

Additionally, I also feel that it would do so much for me to accumulate some discipline, to accomplish something important.

But then, another part of me screams back at those thoughts, to resist; and I get confused. Am I just buying in to what the Military marketing is selling?

Maybe one day I will try out. I'm still only 19 years old so I got a while before I should worry about that yet :)

There are a lot of things you can do without enlisting, though if you're still young enough to enlist, that might be the route you want to go.

You're gonna want to talk to people more experienced than me or the other folks you'll find here, but if you feel compelled to move forward, then do. You need to find your own peace.
