Today is a first official working day in my country. Those lazy loungers were on holidays since January 1st.

Not three. The official paid New Year and Christmas (January 7th) holidays last for 10 days:

Honestly I think a lot of the world has to work too hard, so a long holiday is no bad thing. After all, work to live right? Not live to work.

No, we do not :) Christmas is a religious holiday. So it's being celebrated on January 7th by Julian calendar. New Year is a secular holiday, so it's being celebrated on January 1st. The country lives by Gregorian calendar and only Orthodox Christian church uses the Julian one. That's why it's called Orthodox :)

oh good thanks for the explanation. i always love when holidays are over here in czech republic, and then the religious slovakia is celebrating with lulabies and all the xmas shit another one week or so :) then, just checking russian or ukrainian tv and ded moroz all around :) :thumbsup
