Judging by 9 yes votes and 30 no votes I am inclined to think that this is not a thing.

If the thread being bumped has something to do with current events or others threads on the main page I think it is ok.
For example when Jay says he is going to kill himself.
Someone has bumped several threads showing this is something he often does/says and it should not be taken as serious as if someone like theking were to say the same thing.

Also my thread asking about what people thought as some of the best threads ever. That caused a couple of the greatest to be bumped.
