There were only black babies left at walmart, what would you do?!?
Picking up last minute things and my daughter had her own money to spend from her grandma for xmas, so there are this particular baby she wanted but they only had black ones.
So out loud, as if she had no clue she that maybe shouldn't say this so loud.. (but why not really) "Awe I wish they had a white baby, Mom, do you see any white babies" I was appalled - immediately looking to the left and right thanking God there was no one in the isle. I told my husband and then thought...if there was a black person in the isle and I made eye contact with them, what would my reaction have been? He says I would quietly apologize and say I didn't teach her that way. But I don't know what I would have done. Shrugged and smiled? I'm sure my eyes would have been wide and maybe an uncomfortable smile. I have no idea. What would you do? Would you say anything? |

this thread is what is wrong with the world today. Fuck all this PC bullshit! It's not racist for a kid to want to play with a doll the same skin tone as they are. Now if your daughter didn't want to play with real people based on their skin then it might be a problem.
Girls play with dolls acting as if they were their own babies. How confusing would it be for a child to act as a mother of a black, yellow, or green baby? |

How do you think you would have reacted though if there was a black mom next to you buying her daughter a doll? Just smile and nod? Not make eye contact at all? |

Besides the doll was ugggly. I'm glad they didn't have it in white either. |

Then I was afraid someone would turn the corner and see me taking pictures of the black dolls, and get mad. |
The tragedy is that you shop at Walmart.

And what did I spell wrong? aisle? |
Well if it was ME I would not be scared to say something. Say there's a black mom there (or dad). I would turn to them and just go, 'Kids huh?" and smile.
Then if they didn't smile back but wanted to confront me I would just go: "Do you buy white dolls for your kids?" and see where it went from there. I'm sure security would be called eventually. LOL Happy Holidays!! :) |
