The Ring was not written by a tallented writer who sold his script for $1M, it did not star anyone famous, it didn't get a nomination for any awards and it certainly won't make the top 1000 all time best movies.

However, it was entertaining and beyond my expectations, which was probably because I watched it before every Tom, Dick and Harry raved about it.

If it doesn't meet the expactations your friends have build up in you maybe you should drag your ass to the movies rather then waiting for the DVD.

Das Experiement - never heard of it.

The Perfect Storm - why would they say that the movie is based on a true story when only the first 10 minutes happened in front of witnesses. How does the author know that the ship was taken by a 60 meter wave?

Gladiator - I walked out on the Australian premier. So did 50 others.

A Beautiful Mind - The story of a yet another person with a fucking disability. Enough is enough. There are plenty of normal people who don't get any recognition for real achievements.

Ah well.. none the less.. I liked them... and they were better then the ring. I still paid the same amount to get in and see those movies... I could care less who makes what and how much the movie was... as long as I get something good for my 2 cents..
