We have never given a shit how many people Sadaam or anyone else has killed until it benefits us to say so. It's just one of many things used to sway the opinion of US citizens into backing this war. How fucking hard is this to see? How hard? How many other dictators/countries torture and murder people on a regular basis and we don't care? How many people starve to death each year? If you think Bush is in Iraq to "save the people" you seriously need to use your head for 20 minutes and READ.

My apartment downtown Fort Worth, we used to have a security gaurd stationed in the lobby at all times.

Anyway, late at night when I'd go down to walk my dog I used to talk to "Mike" (that's what we called him, his real name was too difficult to say) sometimes we'd talke for hours.

Anyway, Mike was a former Iraqi helicopter pilot now living in the US.

I say former, because one day he somehow ruined a piece of equipment while training in his craft. He spent months in prison for this.

He told me how they hooked up battery cables to his nuts and shocked him, how they shoved things up his ass, the list goes on.

He eventually was left on a street corner that he said was sort of infamous for finding people dead, or almost dead.

A shop keeper who knew him hid him in his store room and nursed him back to health.

He eventually made his way to Saudi Arabia and miraculously if you were to hear the whole story he was able to get asylum here in the states.

Mike also told me the way the prison system in Iraq works. Let me just start off by saying it's best if you do not have family, not necessarily brothers and sisters, but a wife and children.

If you are imprisoned, more than likely your wife and children are imprisoned with you. The gaurds then take turns raping your wife, and daughters if you have them.

He told me that there are women who spend their entire lives from birth to death inside an Iraqi prison.

In other words the female is born out of rape, then raped her entire life, only to turn around and have children while in prison and if you happen to have a female child then the process repeats itself.

After Saddam's cousin died an Saddam took power one of his first acts was to call the members of his party together. While he sat, laughing and smoking a cigar a person at the podium began calling off names from a list. When a name was called, security removed that person from the meeting and that person was executed. There were 179 party members left when he finished. That is how Saddam delt with party members that he percieved opposed him and/or his policies.

I saw a tape of this meeting while watching a documentary on the history channel about Saddam's life from childhood, his rise to power and his party's rise to power.

During his cousins 12 year reign in power Saddam was a "hitman" for his cousin and personally assassinated people.

Look, my point is that your reasons for saying this war is good has shit to do with why we are at war. I support the troops there 100% and hope they all make it home safely. Unfortunately some are already gone. Yes if Sadaam stopped killing, torturing, whatever today that would be a good thing. But don't think for 1 second we are there for that. Government is not a pretty thing and we supported many of our current "enemies" at one time or another with money, weapons, etc. Like Labret said we were in good with Sadaam while all this shit was going on.
