Name a food that you have NEVER eaten - But most other people probably have...
In the spirit of everyone sitting down for a nice meal today, take a moment to think about the foods that you have not been fortunate to have tried....
I'll go first : Lobster ! No real reason, just never seem to have tried it :upsidedow You? |
Poo
Never ate any (at least not knowingly). For the rest... I never tried insects. I'm French, we're known to eat pretty much anything... |
Sushi. I prefer Chinese.
|
Veal.
When I was younger it was misguided angst, my personal plight for tortured animal babies. But now, just haven't gotten around to it. I'd love to try it. |
I won't eat veal.
|
If you eat veal or not, that month old milkfed dairy bull is gonna get shot.
Shame to waste it. You do now see darker veal, the farmers will give them 2-3 months out in the field. Cheap Chickens get killed at 10 weeks. Pigs at about 20. Mikfed lamb after a couple of months.. Why is veal so different? |
never eaten french fries, they smell weird to me
(or any of the other ones listed either for that matter) |
For me it is not about never trying more about not wanting to. I don't eat Seafood, ever. All my friends eat it, love it, crave it, I won't touch it. My wife is the same, won't touch any Seafood.

I've never eaten insects either, but never really thought of them as a food myself. However if a correctly prepared insect based food dish was put infront of me, I'd try it :thumbsup |
Never had veal either... Not cause I object - Just dont think I've seen it on any menus tbh...

About as palatable as CS's predilections :) The smell of oil is not a food group to me |

BTW I don't eat anything with feathers (chicken, ducks, birds of any kind)
I suppose I'm missing a lot there but thought of eating a feathery creature disgusts me beyond imagination |

As for me, never tried Foie Gras (and don't want to!). Never tried raw scorpion like you see on food streets in China, but to make up for it I ate donkey meat, bull frog and duck blood (in a jelly form). The Chinese love their duck blood. RE: Lobster, I remember during my first trip to Beijing having a wonderful chilly lobster meal in the financial part of the city. Not cheap but it was an amazing culinary experience which was distracted only by a runny nose and the cuteness of my dining partner. Over the years, I have found that people who often won't try something new or are very fussy eaters (for a non-health reason) are in some way closed minded or have other issues. Not always but it is often the case. |
Durian & Fugu are two things I dont want to try.
|
i have eaten most things that are on normal menus.
I have not tried horse. I have eaten moose plenty of times, I am guessing horse is similar. Living in Asia, I have tried various Seafood things that many wouldn't. Of course I am drunk when i do as otherwise I do not touch seafood beyond Salmon and Tuna Sushi |
Sushi.
Oysters. Most of seafood (I tried some just recently since I was all inclusive in the hotel, otherwise I would have said all seafood instead of most seafood). |
Hmm, after I wrote my post I started wondering if I was correct in assuming most people tried oysters (pretty sure minority tried it) and then I see some people posting things like squirrel and durian, lol.

Sardines. My sister loves them but I can't stand the smell and just gag when I try to eat one.
|
Cannot think of anything offhand. I like trying new foods, at least once.
|
Penguin... I never ate one
|
Sushi
No particular reason, everytime I get a chance or want to try it ... some other kind of plate takes its place. |

Lobster
Lamb ..wanna try both I can?t stand any kind of intestines, heard about people eating lungs, chicken hearts, bull testicles, stomachs and of course liver. I tasted liver long time ago, probably chicken, was eatable but nothing I would love eating regularly. The only exception is foie gras, which was pretty good.. But the idea of eating lungs or hearts or others specialties makes me wanna puke. :Oh crap |
I'm Canadian and never had Poutine.
|
Tofu. The guys I know who eat it on a regular basis are all kind of androgynous lispy sissies. I don't know if it's cause or effect but I'm not eating that shit.

Shrimp
Lobster Sushi etc... |

I'm surprised so many have not tried Sushi.
It's nice but nothing special as its just a different way to eat rice, usually wrapped in seaweed and with a tiny bit of vegetables or seafood and some soy sauce. No big deal ultimately. There are so many other things out there that people should try. One of my favorites is a Chinese dish called "crispy aromatic duck" which is served with spring onions and pancakes and a very special plum sauce. It's really not very authentic and its so mainstream that I'm sure many of you will have tried it. It's more Cantonese (I think) and most Chinese restaurants will serve it. If you haven't tried it before, get it from a superb Chinese restaurant so you really know what this dish can be when its done properly. |
I've never tried a lobster. Love the sea food but never had the nerves to crack open one and eat the meat.
I prefer squids from all the sea products. :D |
Sushi.......
|
