MONTREAL ? Canada's new environment minister on Monday approved Montreal's plan to discharge 8 billion liters (2.1 billion gallons) of untreated sewage into the St. Lawrence River.

Liberal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna said from Paris that she's asking the city to implement several measures before dumping the waste water such as monitoring the discharge and to improve emergency clean-up plans.

Nope. Just getting prepared for many years of getting shit on. This article is a metaphor for what's in store for Canada.

I've always been concerned about the environment - unlike libtards and greentards that just pretend to be. The difference is I am concerned about real problems not imaginary ones. Libtards and greentards prefer the imaginary ones because there is no money to be made from solving the real problems.

i mean, just mentioning the new industry-friendly Navigable Protection Act alone makes this conversation hilarious

btw, not sure if you were sick/are sick, hope you are all well soon

BlackCrayon 11-12-2015 09:19 AM

It's only because it's where his drinking water comes from.. If it was where your drinking water came from he'd likely stand on the river bank pissing in.. :1orglaugh

I've been following this one for a while. It's really fucked up. Montreal has had a pretty good reputation when it comes to water and sewage treatment. The current Mayor is not well liked anymore and this stupid move isn't gaining him any love either.

Sad day.

it is terrible but something to note is that during any major rainfall up to a million gallons of raw sewage is released into rivers due to the old style combined rainwater/sewage pipe systems. the water treatment plants can't handle all the water at once so i just gets dumped raw. this has been an issue in ottawa and they were suppposed to install these giant holding tanks so it doesn't happen but its still yet to be seen if they actually do this or its just talk.

that's about the equivalent pollution to 45 minutes of Alberta oil sands mining, so no biggie Canada.

Don't worry, the new Canadian "government" is going to save the world by shutting down the oil sands, banning oil and subjecting all Canadians but themselves to a life of carbon reduced poverty. Then they will be the heroes of the world and a model for all to follow on the road to hell. *

:disgust

(* In reality if every person, home, factory, mine, oil rig, vehicle and farting head of livestock disappeared from Canada it would have next to zero impact on global CO2 leveles and zero impact on global temps.)

Come soon before jet aircraft and motorized water vessels are banned and the only way to get here will be by rowboat.

This.

The only thing green about liberal logic is how much cash they're stuffing into their pockets from fear mongering.

Al Gore's net worth now exceeds $200M. He's :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh all the way to the bank. Got rich off the naivety of sheep.

the liberals think there job isn't to live green, it's to goad everyone else into living green.

I love this.

The stink about Montreal?s decision to dump raw sewage | Toronto Star

Quote:

City officials say there is no risk to drinking water and Mayor Denis Coderre made a show of drinking tap water at a Tuesday at a news conference.[/B].
How stupid do politicians think we are? He drink that water BEFORE the dumping started.

Quote:

The sewer water began streaming into the river at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday./

Anyway, to hell with him - he won't be getting my vote next time. Lots of people were paying attention to this issue. What the Mayor should have done is spend a few million dollars to pump the sewage out and had it transported and treated at a nearby treatment facility somewhere. It might have been expensive, but it would have at least shown everything that he gives a shit.

ilnjscb 11-12-2015 02:45 PM

You know who is really going to suffer from this?

You do recall that he was a former Liberal cabinet minister with connections to the sponsorship scandal, right?

In this case he probably couldn't find a company willing to give him a big enough kickback for awarding them such a contract. Typical corrupt Liberal politician from Quebec.
