But some stafford/pitbull owners need to realise that owning a dog comes with a responsibility.
I socialized my dog from the start, did trainings with her and always, always remind myself that it's a dog and not a toy or a human. It's an animal..

I trust my dog. I know she would die for me.
I live near a school and even the children love to play with her.
She loves to play with the kids. They even bring her in the school sometimes when kids want to talk in front of the class about animals.

But I also see a lot of people that have staffords/pittbulls because they feel tough with a dog like that.
In my opinion that's the wrong reason to have a dog.

I myself am not a big fan of Pit bulls, in the past 3 years while walking my dog, we've been attacked 4 times by dogs and yes in three separate occasions it was a pit bull. But at the same time, doing that to an animal is just fucking wrong!

this is sadly the main demographic who owns such dogs. They don't get one because it's fun, they get one because of how it makes them look to total strangers. "Look at me strangers who i will never actually meet in my whole life, i am tough with a tough dog!"

Animal abusers show a HUGE part of a persons character, death penalty for animal abuse, GREAT GREAT IDEA :thumbsup

I'm not watching it and yes, there should be a BIG penalty for animal abuse.

I've never owned a Staffordshire but I did babysit one for a few weeks years ago. A full grown female and she was an amazing dog. She hardly knew me but reacted immediately when I would give her any commands.

The responsibility is huge for any breed, really. Some more than others of course. The people behind this crime better be brought some justice, though.

There's some truth behind the pit's rep, but thats no reason to be cruel to the breed. My aunt had a pit named einstein and it was the sweetest thing Ive ever met.

You'll never convince any pit nutter that their dogs have no place in society. Even this pit nutter, who was pregnant and part of the pit bull advocacy group BADRAP, was mauled to death by her pit bull as she slept. This was a pit that she raised from a puppy and 2 years later mauled her to death as she slept. Her pit nutter husband wanted to bury the dog's ashes along with his fire....You can't even make this shit up!

That's a seriously unfortunate incident. Having read the entire article, however, I would point out that the adopted male pit was not neutered and also there is no mention of its background at all. They also say it was bigger than usual for a male. In fact, there's a lot of unanswered questions about this particular dog in the article.

I have cuddled, slept next to, and loved some Pits over the years (owned by close friends) They can be sweet animals BUT I have also known Pitbulls that have attacked their owners after being socialized and deeply loved since birth.

Pitbull lovers will go to the ends of the earth to say "It's the owners fault" for the pits that go Full-Cujo - I say bullshit...the genetics of this breed need to be put down.

How many toddlers faces will have to be bitten off before we wake up...

I say forced sterilization for all Pits until there are zero left.

It was an experiment, an aberration. It didn't work out.

They raised it from a puppy. Show me any other breed that turns on its (6 month pregnant) owner and mauls them to death for no reason.

Please tell me what would it take for you to admit there might be a problem with the breed? Stop making excuses.

They adopted an adult male, and I'm going to assume they didn't have its full history.
