You can now have more than one child.

Personally I liked the 1 child rule.

If I was running things in the UK I would make it 0 children unless you pass a test.

They raised it to 2. The UK was 1.83 last year. Not high enough to sustain you. 2300 or so and the UK will have died out. Something to think about.

I bet you would even fail your own test.

They should apply the 1 child rule in some other countries like India, or some in Africa..

On the news it said that people in china are so used to one child that most will only want one.

So it will be interesting if china end up having to give people incentives to have more children.

All countries in the world should limit population. If you don't have enough money to support it , you should not have kids. Just like when you are adopting, there are requirements. I would add some more filters for convicts,uneducated and serious test for mental diseases.

AFAIK there is no pensioner fund in china, plus owning a real estate is a must in a materialism-driven society. that paired up with insanely high real estate prices, many chinese people in their mid-20s burn out.

just think about it: you are an only child. you have to get your own apt unless you are nobody, will never be married, etc. and you also have to support your grandparents financially.

one of the reasons nongs (peasants) move up to big cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen etc. to try their luck, otherwise they are lost.

It's well known that the reason for this is 100% economic.

China's economy is kind of melting down and heading for recession.

Nobody believed 6.5% GDP or around there. Most people believe China is under 2% right now, if there is any growth at all.

well, china apparently has 30 million more men than women due to the one child law thing. so just on a today level, that is a nation just itching for a war

now that the child cap is two, that should be a major population boom.. again
